On Thursday, Biden's Environmental Protection Agency announced a new set of rules aimed at reducing pollution from natural gas and coal-fired power plants by 90 percent by 2039. About 42,000 Americans work in the coal industry. Under the regulations, the nation's 200 or so coal-fired power plants will be forced to abide by strict new emissions standards unless they stop burning coal within ten years, in which case they will be allowed to follow the less stringent existing standards. According to the rules, a "new compliance path" for coal-fired power plants means they "will be able to continue meeting existing...

In the current economic-policy debate, the ideas of John Maynard Keynes are resurgent. Here are some of the results: Federal deficit spending soon will reach, and far exceed, previous peacetime peaks. Current projections indicate the budget deficit may surpass $1.1 trillion (that’s trillion with a “T,” one thousand billion) in fiscal 2009. Deepened by emerging stimulus expenses, the deficit may top $1.4 trillion, or about 10 percent of gross domestic product. The federal government will borrow slightly less than half of what it spends. Before he became the great intellectual opponent of socialism, Friedrich Hayek was a technical economist and...

(Yeah, yeah, I know, Dana Priest is a female. But whoda thunk there are only images on the web of men with heads up their ass. Someone’s gonna have to get on that. That’s sexist!!!) Hear ye! Hear ye!Bush’s ‘War’ on Terror Comes to a Sudden End! Or at least so says the dangerously obtuse Dana Priest in yesterday’s Washington Post. That’s right, folks. Priest has declared: Ding-dong, the wicked witch is dead. George W. Bush is out of office, and so the “war” on genocidal jihadists that he and his neo-con cronies concocted, so that Dick Cheney can...

To my Conservative Friends: I believe the reason Barry and his team won't use the term, War on Terror is because they now have created the War on the Successful!!!! Just when you think a liberal might be different, they scurry back into the fox hole on the extreme left side of the political swamp!!! In what is sure to be no surprise to anyone that has been paying attention since the Chosen One's anointing last month, Sir Barry the First has sprinted left out of the gate in nothing more than can be described as standard policy for a...
