Why the world’s democracies should abandon the UN immediately Benjamin Kerstein has cast a skeptical eye on the so-called “international community,” and suggests it is time to put an end to this malignant entity. His argument can be found here: “The ‛International Community’ Has No Right to Exist,” by Benjamin Kerstein, JNS.org, June 2, 2024:Recent decisions against Israel by the International Criminal Court and International Court of Justice, which are clearly intended to rescue Hamas and aid and abet its genocidal war on the Jewish state, can only reinforce a truism often expressed by Israelis: Kol ha’olam negdeinu. “The whole...

The top U.N. human rights body agreed on Monday to hold an urgent debate on allegations of “systemic racism, police brutality and violence against peaceful protests” in the United States and elsewhere on Wednesday. The U.N. Human Rights Council’s decision followed a request last week by Burkina Faso on behalf of African countries in response to the killing of George Floyd, an African American, on May 25 under the knee of a white Minneapolis police officer. His death has ignited protests across the nation and worldwide. “We think it is a moment to really discuss this issue, as you have...

WASHINGTON, D.C., January 17, 2020 (C-Fam) — The leader of one of the world’s top human rights organizations told the U.S. Commission on Unalienable Rights last week that abortion is a “fundamental right” for “anyone who wants or needs it” and that arguments about the humanity of the unborn are merely “philosophical,” with no place in policy. Human Rights Watch head Kenneth Roth criticized Secretary of State Michael Pompeo’s basis for founding the commission. Pompeo initiated the expert body to guide the department in response to a proliferation of new rights claims that often compete against one another. Roth said...

The United Nations News Centre — the official U.N. news service — tweeted, then quickly pulled, a post that called for “8 million Americans abroad” to “stop Trump.” The tweet, published at 9:14 p.m. ET on Thursday, urged American expats to share a voter registration tool on the website of the activist organization Avaaz that states, “U.S. Citizens abroad could defeat Trump … if they voted.”

Sen. John Barrasso (R-Wyo.) on Tuesday slammed the administration’s handover of $500 million to the U.N. Green Climate Fund, asking a State Department official how the “handout to foreign bureaucrats” could be justified at a time when there were “real problems” that need to be addressed at home. Barrasso told Deputy Secretary for Management and Resources Heather Higginbottom he viewed the payment to the “new international climate change slush fund” — the first installment of a $3 billion pledge — as both a misuse of taxpayer dollars and a violation of legislation that prohibits federal agencies from spending federal funds...

Citing wasted tax dollars and attacks on the constitutionally guaranteed liberties of the American people, Rep. Mike Rogers (R-Ala.; shown) introduced a bill to restore U.S. sovereignty and withdraw from the United Nations. The effort to de-fund and exit the UN comes amid growing scrutiny of the global organization, often ridiculed as the “dictators club,” and myriad mega-scandals swirling around it. However, despite ever-growing support in Congress for restoring U.S. sovereignty by withdrawing from the UN over the years, the legislation still faces an uphill battle. In a statement last week announcing the American Sovereignty Restoration Act of 2015 (H.R. 1205),...

The U.S. has already signaled that Iran's UN envoy pick is a no-go - and for VERY good reason. At the same time we are being entangled in these disputes; we do so and are to some degree continuing this because the UN is on U.S. grounds. The statement "get the U.S. out of the UN and the UN out of the U.S." has been oft-repeated...so here is a possible solution - with one caveat. The UN is moved to neutral territory (if at all possible), so we don't have to shell out a significant chunk for its operating expenses....

(Reuters) - Hours after U.S. President Barack Obama was re-elected, the United States backed a U.N. committee's call on Wednesday to renew debate over a draft international treaty to regulate the $70 billion global conventional arms trade. U.N. delegates and gun control activists have complained that talks collapsed in July largely because Obama feared attacks from Republican rival Mitt Romney if his administration was seen as supporting the pact, a charge Washington denies. The month-long talks at U.N. headquarters broke off after the United States - along with Russia and other major arms producers - said it had problems with...

United Nations-affiliated election monitors from Europe and central Asia will be at polling places around the U.S. looking for voter suppression activities by conservative groups, aconcern raised by civil-rights groups during a meeting this week. The intervention has drawn criticism from a prominent conservative-leaning group combating election fraud. The Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), a United Nations partner on democratization and human rights projects, will deploy 44 observers around the county on Election Day to monitor an array of activities, including potential disputes at polling places. Liberal-leaning civil rights groups met with representatives from the OSCE this...

The NGO Major Group Organizing Partners have finalized their key document for the Rio+20 Summit. “TheFutureWeWant” outlines the common vision for “sustainable development” throughout the planet sought by those nongovernmental organizations - mostly social and environmental activist groups. There are many noble sentiments in its 283 statements. There also is much that raises serious concerns. “Sustainable,” “sustainability” and “sustainable development” appear in the text an astounding 390 times. Like “abracadabra,” these amorphous words are supposed to transform even corrupt societies into Gardens of Eden under United Nations auspices. They will use less, pollute less, be sustainable, get along and save...

ST. LOUIS — Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich says the United Nations should adopt a treaty giving everyone on the planet the right to bear firearms. The GOP presidential candidate told the National Rifle Association convention Friday in St. Louis that the group has been too timid in promoting gun rights.

The controversy over requiring voters to provide photo IDs has reached the world stage. The United Nations Human Rights Council is investigating the issue of American election laws at its gathering on minority rights in Geneva, Switzerland.. This, despite the fact that some members of the council have only in the past several years allowed women to vote, and one member, Saudi Arabia, still bars women from the voting booth completely. Officials from the NAACP are presenting their case against U.S. voter ID laws, arguing to the international diplomats that the requirements disenfranchise voters and suppress the minority vote. Eight...

While many of the acts of the United Nations are accurately described as laughable, their latest idea is literally comical. With only four years until the 2015 deadline for achieving its notorious Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), the UN has taken up the challenge of making children “fully aware of them” and “of the important role they can play in achieving them.” To that end, the discerning minds at that Manhattan morass have enlisted the aid of world famous soccer players to shill for the global shadow government. Claiming that sports figures “often act as role models” (all that planning for...

US President Barack Obama's Republican foes on Tuesday launched a fresh campaign for reform at the United Nations, with a key leader urging Washington to withhold contributions as leverage. Republican Representative Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, the new House Foreign Affairs Committee chair, said the United States contributed more than six billion dollars in 2009 only to see a bloated, inefficient and corrupt body. "We should be conditioning our contributions on 'reform first, pay later," an absent Ros-Lehtinen said in a statement read out by Representative Jean Schmidt, who addressed a committee hearing on UN reform.

A key House Republican is quickly pressing forward with her goals to scale back U.S. funding for the United Nations. Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-Fla.), chairwoman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, told The Hill that oversight would be a key function of the panel, particularly funding to the United Nations Human Rights Council (HRC) that is "a waste of taxpayer dollars."

The power hungry tyrants learnt from Copenhagen. They realized that they have a far better chance of success by underselling the expectations and sliding in long impenetrable documents in front of underling bureaucrats. Due to the importance of this I have reproduced Christopher Monckton’s words in full as reported at SPPI (see below). The UN wants nothing less than 1.5% of our GDP. That’s $212 billion from the USA every year ($2700 per family of 4). That’s $32 billion from the UK every year ($2000 per family of 4).That’s $13 billion from Australia every year ($2400 per family of...

In the first ever self-assessment of America’s human rights record, the Obama administration has informed the United Nations that it remains committed to closing the detention center at Guantanamo Bay and to “fixing our broken immigration system.” A report delivered to the U.N. Human Rights Council (HRC) in Geneva on Friday and released by the State Department on Monday describes the “great strides” the U.S. has made towards ensuring equality of the law for all Americans. The report also acknowledges that work remains to be done. The report – which now goes to the U.N. for review -- was drawn...

(CNSNews.com) – The U.S. Supreme Court will be asked to decide whether senior United Nations officials should be exempt from prosecution, after a lower court this week upheld immunity in a case involving allegations of sexual harassment and vindictive conduct by top U.N. figures. Two U.N. employees – a U.S. citizen and a dual French-Egyptian national – want to end what their lawyer describes as “impunity” exercised by senior officials in the world body. Cynthia Brzak, the American, claims that Ruud Lubbers, then the U.N. high commissioner for refugees (UNHCR), touched her inappropriately as she left a business meeting in...

I am tired of the U.N. headquarters in New York City being a forum for men like Castro, Ahmedijinad, and Mugabe (and decades ago, Kruschev). I wish our elected officials would compile a list of countries whose "diplomats" and heads of state would be banned from the U.S. If that violates some agreement with the U.N., that organization should feel free to relocate to Switzerland or wherever. I think our continuing to provide a forum for our enemies is interpreted, correctly, as a sign of weakness.
