  • Is team Kerry employing the Clition defense?

The Kerry response to the Swift Vets for the Truth is that these charges area a baseless smear on Kerry. Kerry's handlers are going into WJClinton defense mode: Regardless of the accuracy of the charges, divert attention from them by attacking the accusers. That defense did not prevent Clinton from being Impeached, but it did keep him from being removed from office. I do not think this tactic can relied on in this case since the standard that needs to be met is a bit higher. Kerry is running for the approval of the American people, not the Senate.

MCCAIN: You should be ashamed -- you should be ashamed of sponsoring an event with that man there who had attacked your own father. BUSH: The man was not speaking for me. If you want to know my opinion about you, John, you served our country admirably and strongly, and I'm proud of your record, just like you are. And I don't appreciate what he said about my dad, either. But let me say something, if you're going to be -- hold me responsible for what people for me say, I'm going to do the same for you. The imploding John Kerry By Carol Devine-Molin web posted August 23, 2004 Americans should be truly appalled by presidential candidate John Kerry and his outrageous machinations during this campaign season. It's clear that he has the temperament and proclivities of a little dictator. Kerry's campaign tactics are more than heavy-handed; they're downright un-American. He wants those very effective Swift Boat Veterans for Truth ads pulled from the airwaves forthwith. He's got a complaint lodged with the FEC requesting just that. Moreover, Kerry wants the Swiftees' book, "Unfit for Command," banned from store bookshelves. This begs the question: To what lengths...

Kerry Showing Signs of Meltdown? The Kerry campaign closed out last week in full flail. And according to one source close to the campaign, the candidate is really starting to feel the heat. With looming questions about the integrity of his service in Vietnam dominating the narrative of the 2004 campaign, Democrat nominee John Kerry is in full battle mode against the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth. In addition to the highly orchestrated smear campaign against the vets being run out of the Democrat National Committee, the Kerry campaign and the DNC has also produced a blizzard of legal threats...

Swift Boat Vets Controversy I'm not very fond of John Kerry, and I've argued repeatedly here that he's not likely to make a good president. I've expressed a good deal of exasperation during this 2004 election season, because I don't believe we have a good option this year. I must say, however, that the information coming out as a result of the Swift Boat Veterans ads is changing my perception of Kerry's record as a young adult, and not in the direction the Swift Boat Vets anticipated. Check out this first-hand account in the Chicago Tribune today of the incident...

NEW YORK - Appearing on the Moncia Crowley Sunday show on NYC's WABC 770AM, the co-author of UNFIT FOR COMMAND, John O'Neill dared John Kerry to "sue me for libel". And he got specific... "If he was actually in Cambodia on Christmas Eve in 1968 he should sue me. If, in fact those other five boats on March 13th, if they all fled like he did instead of staying like he knows they did, he should sue me." John O'Neill & Podesta on This Week, don't find a thread yet posted - IMPORTANT IMPLICATIONS! If you haven't seen this it was one of O'Neill's best performances. Podesta totally denies any involvement by Dr. Letson in treating Kerry's wound for the first purple heart. Yet if Letson, the only doctor which could have possibly treated, was not present, as the Kerrytistas would claim, what does that indicate about the extent of Kerry's injuries? that they weren't even serious to the degree the nurse (corpsman who signed the report) would even refer Kerry to a doctor?

After making his service in Vietnam the centerpiece of his presidential bid, Sen. John F. Kerry now finds himself defending his role as a protester of the war — the chapter of his biography that first gained him prominence but which he has discussed infrequently this year. Kerry used his leadership in the Vietnam protest movement as a springboard into politics, running as an antiwar candidate in his first campaign in Massachusetts — a race for the U.S. House that he lost. He also distanced himself from his military career at least once in his next five campaigns, all of...

CRAWFORD - The Bush campaign said late Saturday that it dismissed an adviser on veterans issues after learning that he is part of an independent group that has been running anti-Kerry ads. The Bush campaign said Kenneth Cordier, who appears in a new advertisement to be aired by the anti-Kerry group Swift Boat Veterans for Truth, will no longer serve in his voluntary position on Bush's veterans steering committee.

The posturing and positioning are too good to pass up. Don't forget to visit Swift Vets and help get the message out about a 'backstabbing' war "hero". POWs in Hanoi were made to suffer even more for Kerry's lies and now he wants all of us to just pretend it never happened.

Kerry's Silver Star incident is supposed to be told with such bravado you'd think Rood could come up with something more colorful to justify its awarding. An ambush without much action and a couple-few if any more fleeing, if even that's to be believed, or even minor activity described as being from the other side of the river aside ... Here is how Kerry's citation describes the incident (Unfit for Command pages 81-82): On a request from U.S. Army advisors ashore, Lieutenant (junior grade) KERRY ordered PCFs 94 and 23 further up river to suppress enemy sniper fire. After proceeding...

WASHINGTON -- The co-author of the best-selling book "Unfit for Command" says today's statement by a Chicago Tribune editor and former swift boat commander does not substantively contradict his findings about John Kerry's Silver Star. William Rood, 61, said he decided to break his silence today about the Feb. 28, 1969, mission because recent reports of Kerry's actions in that battle are incorrect and darken the reputations of veterans who served with Kerry, according to a report in the Chicago Tribune.

When you're in a hole, dig deeper, I guess. Kerry buttboy, Chad Clanton, fresh from trying to ban books, provides a press release on the two men in the latest Swift Vets ad. Let's see. Kenneth Cordier is a Republican donor, despised LBJ, is a member of a "Bush administration advisory panel on veterans' issues," is "open about his conservative views", made a joke about "pulling of ladies' panties over the faces of Iraqi prisoners by U.S. interrogators at Abu Ghraib as preferable to beheading," and wait, stop! Chad's killing me ... with laughter. And what about Paul Galanti? Well,...

Not a flame, just a thought. If McCain-Feingold prohibits coordination between independent 527 organizations, like Swift Boat Veterans for the Truth, and candidates and campaigns, then how can John Kerry expect President Bush to ask that the Swift Vets stop running their ads? If President Bush affects a 527 organizations's activity in any way, isn't that "coordination?" Doesn't CFR, as things currently stand, legally prohibit President Bush from doing anything but stand on the sidelines, with regard to the Swift Vets?

Swift Change Of Heart Critic once saluted Kerry's bravery, loyalty, moral courage AUGUST 20--The broadside against John Kerry's war record is particularly bizarre in light of what one of the leading bomb throwers had to say about the Democrat while both served in Vietnam.
