Newly obtained military records of one of Sen. John F. Kerry's most vocal critics, who has accused the Democratic presidential candidate of lying about his wartime record to win medals, contradict his own version of events. In newspaper interviews and a best-selling book, Larry Thurlow, who commanded a Navy Swift boat alongside Kerry in Vietnam, has strongly disputed Kerry's claim that the Massachusetts Democrat's boat came under fire during a mission in Viet Cong-controlled territory on March 13, 1969. Kerry won a Bronze Star for his actions that day. But Thurlow's military records, portions of which were released yesterday to...

Back in February, the three broadcast networks were obsessed with the story of President Bush’s National Guard service. But in May, when John Kerry’s former Navy colleagues from Vietnam went to the National Press Club to charge that Kerry’s tales of heroism as a Swift Boat commander were highly exaggerated, those same networks acted as if their job was to bury the news, not report it. Back on May 4, ABC and NBC ignored the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth’s press conference, while CBS’s Byron Pitts claimed the veterans had merely “unleashed decades of bitterness.” His Evening News story ignored...

LOMBARD -- James R. Wasser, second in command under Democrat Presidential candidate John Kerry on PCF-44 in Vietnam, will speak at the August 25 meeting of the Democrat Party of DuPage County at their campaign office at 1000 Rohlwing, Lombard. Wasser was one of the 13 men who fought with Kerry in Vietnam who were on the podium at the Democrat National Convention to help introduce the nominee before he gave his speech accepting the his Party's nomination for President. Among the 13 were the boatswain, gunnery mates, and petty officers who crewed the boat skippered by Kerry when he...

Old Crimson Interview Reveals A More Radical John Kerry The Crimson reported Kerry called for U.N. control of troops in 1970. Ten months after returning home from Vietnam, a young John Kerry strolled into the offices of The Harvard Crimson on Feb. 13, 1970 as an obscure underdog in the Democratic Congressional primary. The decorated veteran, honorably discharged after a tour of duty in the Mekong Delta, spoke in fierce terms during his daylong interview with The Crimson’s Samuel Z. Goldhaber ’72. But almost 34 years later, Kerry’s remarks on American military and intelligence operations vastly diverge from opinions expressed...

During John Edwards speech accepting the Democratic Party’s vice-Presidential nomination, he said if we, the American people wanted to know about John Kerry, we should ask those who served with Kerry in Vietnam. OK fair enough. After all Kerry has run his presidential campaign based upon his four-month stint in Vietnam. So exactly what do many of Kerry’s fellow veterans have to say about his service? Well first of all there is Captain Charles Plumly, US Navy retired. He actually commanded John Kerry and he has some interesting words concerning Kerry. “ During LT. Kerry’s tour, he was under my...

WASHINGTON — Vietnam veterans opposing John Kerry have scored a hit with a tough TV ad that claims he lied about his war record — it makes swing voters think twice about backing Kerry, an independent study has found. The ad planted doubts in the minds of 27 percent of independent voters who planned to vote for Kerry or leaned pro-Kerry. After seeing it, they were no longer sure they'd back him, the study found.

WASHINGTON (AP) — John Kerry on Tuesday condemned a television ad that criticizes President Bush's Vietnam-era service in the Texas Air National Guard, even as prominent veterans linked to the Democratic presidential campaign echoed the commercial's accusations. In a campaign shadowed by the war on terror, the military records of Kerry and Bush emerged again as an issue after Republican Sen. John McCain called on Kerry to denounce an ad that accuses Bush of using family connections to avoid the Vietnam War. McCain, a decorated Vietnam veteran with the reputation of a political maverick, had called on Bush two weeks ago...

When I went on a solo FReep in NYC yesterday, I made up flyers that I handed out -- 100 handed out in 1/2 hour!I strongly suggest that FReepers print out/xerox these flyers and pass them out anywhere you can to counter the DNC goons' efforts (and just to get the word out on the REAL John Kerry). You can download the flyers HERE. They are in PDF Format. They also help the Swift Boat Vets. Here is what they say: The REAL John Kerry “Yes, I committed the same kind of atrocities as thousands of other soldiers have committed in that I...

A document from the FBI files covering the Vietnam Veterans Against the War (VVAW) and John Kerry, dated November 16,1971 (FBI file record number ID; 100-448092-483), indicates that local supporters of the VVAW became dissatisfied with the VVAW. As a result of Mr. Kerry’s speech in Gaston Hall at George Washington University, the head office of the VVAW in New York withdrew support for the Washington DC office and for John Kerry. The following is a verbatim transcript of the FBI document:

A liberal organization is taking to the airwaves today to challenge an ad by a group of Navy veterans that accuses Sen. John F. Kerry (D-Mass.) of distorting his Vietnam record. "George Bush: Take that ad off the air," says the 30-second spot from MoveOn.org PAC. The ad in question, from a group called Swift Boat Veterans for Truth, charges Kerry with "lying about his first Purple Heart" in Vietnam 35 years ago. The MoveOn response -- airing in the same four markets in Ohio, West Virginia and Wisconsin, and on CNN and Fox News -- begins by attacking President...

On www.wintersoldier.com's Timeline page, it says "April 22, 1972 -- John Kerry represents the VVAW at the "Emergency March for Peace" in Bryant Park in New York City." At that same time, according to the FBI surveillance file, Section 50, Part 1, Page 152. VVAW/WSO revealed information about a US Military operation. "...the VVAW/WSO operation during 4/72 during which a canvass of VVAW/WSO members, some in active military service, developed information indicating US would bomb Hanoi and Haiphong. This information was disseminated by VVAW/WSO prior to the actual bombing and could have seriously jeopardized US Military operations and lives of...

Judson Cox: Who are you, and who are the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth? Van Odell: I served in the U.S. Navy from October 1966 to October 1972. I was assigned to Coastal Squadron 1 on Swift Boats as a Gunners Mate in Vietnam, on January 9, 1969. During the period January 9, 1969 through July 1969 I served in Coastal Division 11 at An Thoi, RVN. While assigned to Cos Div 11 I served on PCF's 93, 35, and 10. I was on many of the river patrols that John Kerry was also assigned. During this time I observed...

<p>O'Reilly is having a conniption fit over this and must be convinced to allow the Swifties to proceed. To email him directly, one must be a member of his "fan club" at $5/month (chortle). So, if anyone IS a member of this obviously important and influential policy group, please use that avenue. If not, you can use the Fox News address...hopefully it's not a roundfile eddress.</p>

On April 18th, this year, Mr Kerry, as Tim Russert's guest, assured the host, that his records would be made available to the public. To this day, only selective portions have been released. When will Tim Russert challenge Mr Kerry to fulfill his promise?? From NBC NEWS- Meet the Press: " MR. RUSSERT: The Boston Globe reports that your commanding officer, Lieutenant Commander Grant Hibberd has suggested that you perhaps didn't earn your first Purple Heart and question whether you should have left Vietnam after six months. In order to deal with those kinds of issues, when I asked President...

Sen. Kerry has an established a track record for playing fast and lose with the facts, such as claiming he commanded the PCF-94 during January of 1969; that it was his boat that hit a mine and lifted 2-3 feet out of the water (See Congressional Record: January 28, 1998 (Senate) Page S186-S187); claiming the Rev. David Alston was a member of his crew; Christmas in Cambodia, and well you get the idea. Sen. Kerry released a document for the March 13, 1969 incident that details his swift boat's (PCF-94) damage for the March 13th incident that had earned him...

On the kerrylied.com site is info re the Sept.12 gathering for vets, families and supporters in D.C. I'm sure there are many who can't make it back east but want to be a part of this peaceful, respectful gathering. I tried twice emailing the kerrylied site. Ea time mail didn't go thru. I am posting my thoughts here hoping someone can pass it along and also to start support for simultaneous gatherings throughout the country: Please consider having gatherings on the west coast and in mid-America to coincide with the east coast event. I am sure many want to be...

We have been hearing a lot lately from the Swiftvets and how they don't think Kerry deserved his medals... I am trying to find any kind of information that shows they also felt this way right after Kerry left Vietnam... Other than O'Neill challenging Kerry on the war crimes charges, I can't seem to find anything that says the Swifties questioned his medals back in the 70's... any help? The argument my Libby friend is using is: The Swifties never questioned Kerry's medals in 1971 etc., and that proves they are part of the Republican attack machine!

WHEN NEWS broke in the New Hampshire Sunday News that John Kerry made up the story of Mary Ann Knowles having to work through her chemotherapy for fear of losing her health insurance, deja vu bells went off. Knowles, the New Hampshire resident and campaign volunteer he cited in his Democratic National Convention acceptance speech and used as justification for his health care plan, didn’t work through chemo because of an insurance problem. She kept working because her salary would have been reduced if she had gone on disability — a weighty prospect, to be sure. But, her husband told...
