'Twas Christmas in Cambodia' By Bette Anne Joyce HundredPercenter 'Twas the night before Christmas, when all through Cambodia Not a enemy was stirring, not even in Laos Their weapons were hung on the straw huts with care, In hopes that delusional St. Kerry soon would be there; The Cambodians were nestled all snug in their beds, While John Kerry had visions of an attack seared in his head. The enemy settled down for a long winter's nap, When out on in the rice field there arose such a clatter; They sprang from their beds to see what was the matter....

This political season the criticisms of George W. Bush and the accolades afforded John Kerry are well known. One was criticized for his military service. The other was a wounded war hero. One was called a scourge and a misfortune. The other was called a genius. One was called dull. The other was called charming. However, these contrasting examples of remarks are about Bush and Kerry – they describe George Washington and Benedict Arnold. Washington was called a scourge and misfortune by one newspaper near the end of term in office – just as Bush is similarly characterized by many...

Suddenly, the presidential race has devolved into a debate about young John Kerry's actions in Vietnam. First, Kerry made his military service the central theme of the Democratic convention. Now some anti-Kerry veterans have issued a book and television ads that impugn that record. Kerry's strategy was not hard to understand. In normal times, the Democrats' strong suit — domestic policy — counterbalances the GOP's advantage on national security issues. With the country at war, however, national security trumps. So Kerry promised a "more effective war on terror," and he labored to make the case, as columnist E.J. Dionne put...

Just a heads up. Michael Savage is having John O'Neill, Unfit to Command author, on his show at the top of the hour. That's approximately 5PM PST. Anyone who's listening and can post some running commentary would be most appreciated.

Despite the Kerry camp's best efforts to attack the book and discredit its co-author, the white-hot new book Unfit for Command is holding firm at #1 on both Amazon and BN.com. Publisher Regnery Publishing reports that bookstore orders are still flooding in, and that they have gone back for a third printing, putting the total number of books in print up to 175,000. All this before the book has even been officially released, still slated for August 15th. A firestorm of publicity has erupted around the book and a related anti-Kerry TV ad, with Kerry flaks resorting to name-calling and...

In 1996, I took the ride of my life, but I have no regrets about exposing Bill Clinton for the louse that he is. Blowing the whistle on a powerful politician was different from any activity I had ever undertaken, and I arrested people and dodged bullets for a living! I thought I had seen it all, but I was wrong. When I began my quest to surface the truth, I was an honest, independent, a-political FBI agent. But, when the establishment was finished with me, I was “aligned with the Dole campaign, Big Tobacco, shadowy right-wing financiers of various...

"I'm John Kerry, and I'm reporting for duty." It was the most memorable line from John Kerry's acceptance speech last week at the Democratic National Convention. But Kerry's insistence on making his four-month tour of duty in Vietnam the centerpiece of his campaign could backfire as Americans learn more about what he did in that country and, more importantly, what he did when he returned home. To hear the Kerry campaign tell it, the men who served with Kerry universally consider him a genuine war hero who would make a fine commander in chief. The campaign trumpets testimonials from a...

John Edwards is supposed to be a great lawyer but at the recent Democratic convention he made a rookie mistake: He raised a question without knowing the answer. "If you have any questions about what John Kerry's made of, just spend three minutes with the men who served with him," he said. Edwards meant Kerry's "band of brothers" - the small entourage of vets who served under him in Vietnam and now strongly support him for President. Evidently, Edwards did not know at the time that almost every officer who commanded Kerry or served alongside him opposes his candidacy. Worse,...

Re: An ugly attack, editorial, Aug. 9. I respectfully disagree with your stand on the "Swift Boat Veterans for Truth" ad. Since it seems as though every other sentence out of John Kerry's mouth has to do with his Vietnam service record, I believe that it is very fair to challenge that service record - if for no other reason than President Bush's military records have been challenged as well. Also to compare the record of Kerry to that of Sen. John McCain is totally unfair. Being wounded in war is, indeed, a terrible thing but to compare that to...

To: National Desk, Political Reporter Contact: Chad Clanton or Phil Singer, both of Kerry-Edwards 2004, 202-464-2800; Web: http://www.johnkerry.com WASHINGTON, Aug. 10 /U.S. Newswire/ -- In today's press briefing, the White House again refused to condemn the new blatantly false ads being run by "Swift Boat Veterans for Bush." For a week now, President Bush (news - web sites) has refused to heed Senator John McCain's call to condemn these ads, which McCain called "dishonest and dishonorable" ads. "Last week Senator John McCain called on President Bush to condemn these 'dishonest and dishonorable' ads. And, once again, the White House has...

Seeing through Kerry ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Posted: August 4, 2004 1:00 a.m. Eastern © 2004 WorldNetDaily.com It is obvious from John Kerry's acceptance speech last week at the Democratic National Convention that he considers his "service" in Vietnam to be a major issue in his bid for the presidency. I'm glad he made it so. Now he can't complain when critics attack his military record for what it is – fraudulent, disgraceful and dishonorable. Though, knowing Kerry, I'm sure he will squeal like a pig when we do. Kerry deviated from the text of his prepared speech only once, when he began...

A reader named Joe sent us an email that contained some pretty darn interesting questions -- questions for which answers either have not emerged or have emerged but not fully to satisfy. Insight has explored some of the issues raised by folks like Joe in investigative reports on medals Sen. John Kerry received for his Vietnam service and, separately, in exposes seeking to reveal who this fellow is who wants to become president of the United States. On the heels of former Vietnam vets' accusations about Kerry's war-time record -- good or bad -- and a new book out compiled...

WASHINGTON - Three campaign finance watchdog groups filed a complaint Tuesday accusing a group of Vietnam veterans of violating the campaign finance law by airing an ad that challenges Democratic presidential nominee John Kerry (news - web sites)'s military record. Democracy 21, the Center for Responsive Politics and the Campaign Legal Center argue that the ad by Swift Boat Veterans for Truth violates a federal ban on the use of unlimited donations, often referred to as "soft money," to influence federal elections. In the ad, the group accuses Kerry, a decorated Vietnam veteran, of lying about his war record and...

According to a Kerry campaign source, senior campaign advisers tasked two Washington-based campaign staffers to vet the recently published Unfit for Command. "The purpose was to compare what that book had with what we had on file from Senator Kerry," says the campaign source, who said that the research project developed more than 75 instances where Kerry's recollections, previous remarks, or writings conflicted with the book's reporting. "We took some of the most glaring examples, like the Christmas in Cambodia story, and presented them to senior staff, and we assume that those things were put in front of Senator Kerry,"...

If the first casualty in war is the truth, as the old saying goes, the truth about John Kerry's military service is under fire from television and the bookstore shelves. The group behind the attack, the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth, has accused Mr. Kerry of everything from exaggerating claims to earn medals and Purple Hearts to having his own film crew capturing future campaign footage during his tour in Vietnam almost 35 years ago. Many date their anger at Mr. Kerry to his anti-war activities after he returned from Vietnam, saying he slandered veterans at the time.

Editor's Note: The original article below is from the column, ''The Swift Boat Ad,'' by Susan Estrich. After reading it, Doc Farmer became so incensed that he decided to rebut her article point for point. Ms. Estrich's article is in black, and Doc Farmer's comments are in blue. The latest piece of ugliness in this year's presidential race is an ad attacking John Kerry's record as a swift boat captain in the Vietnam War. If the add reflects the truth, Ms. Estrich, then then ugliness is the fact that your vaunted lib/dem/soc/commie candidate is a liar. It...

Truth bound to come out on Kerry's military duty August 10, 2004 BY JOHN O'SULLIVAN When Sen. John Kerry saluted and announced that he was "reporting for duty" at last month's Democratic Convention, he made his military record a legitimate subject of political attack and journalistic investigation. That moment was the culmination of the powerful "Vietnam theme" that has distinguished the Kerry presidential campaign from almost all recent Democratic campaigns. He had turned around a failing primary season in Iowa with the filmed testimony of the sailor whose life he saved when he pulled him back into the swift boat...
