If the first casualty in war is the truth, as the old saying goes, the truth about John Kerry's military service is under fire from television and the bookstore shelves.
The group behind the attack, the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth, has accused Mr. Kerry of everything from exaggerating claims to earn medals and Purple Hearts to having his own film crew capturing future campaign footage during his tour in Vietnam almost 35 years ago. Many date their anger at Mr. Kerry to his anti-war activities after he returned from Vietnam, saying he slandered veterans at the time.

Not signing up. Is there any mention of the Christmas in Cambodia that suddenly didn't occur. Any mention of Nixon being president before he was president?
As I said before. Kerry is going to be sorry he ever brought up his Vietnam service as it is going to come back and bite him. From Hero to Traitor in one easy lesson.
Could you excerpt the fact check too?
Is there any mention of the Christmas in Cambodia that suddenly didn't occur. Any mention of Nixon being president before he was president?I've never gotten any spam generated from my Dallas Morning News signup, so I think that it would be worth your time to sign up just to read the article.

Nope. I've already bugged the Dallas Morning News enough just to get this story printed. It would be good for them to hear some feedback from other people.
Hey, OldFriend, it's the Dallas Morning News. Don't expect fair and balanced. But it's interesting that they printed anything about it at all. Maybe it has LEGS???
These 6 guys are not lying. Perhaps if it was just one guy who was a wingnut saying this but you just know these guys are telling the truth. He put in to get out of Vietnam so he could run for Congress. He put in for discharge after 4 months.
Fact check: Kerry vs. swift boat vets
12:29 AM EDT on Tuesday, August 10, 2004
A group called Swift Boat Veterans for Truth has launched an ad accusing John Kerry of lying about his military service. The group is focusing on whether he deserved his three Purple Hearts and other medals. The Kerry campaign calls the ad a typical Republican attack. Here is an examination of the people behind the ad, the points they make and information from other sources that disputes their allegations:
The ad implies that the veterans served with John Kerry, but none of the 13 men featured were crew members on Patrol Craft Fast 94, or the other boats that Lt. John Kerry commanded.
However, several were on boats that accompanied Mr. Kerry's on various missions, including three men on the mission for which Mr. Kerry received a Bronze Star and Purple Heart. The men say Mr. Kerry either exaggerated or lied about the events that led to his medals and Purple Hearts. Several of the other men in the ad are former Navy officers who were in Mr. Kerry's chain of command.

Is it already there? Which bookstore(s)? The book (Unfit for Command) is not yet available from Amazon.com.
What is the actual date of release? I want to get a copy for my liberal friends.
It's because I've bugged the hell out of them. Here's an e-mail that I wrote them yesterday (one of many):We're still waiting for the Dallas Morning News to cover Swift Boat Veterans for Truth.
Im anxiously awaiting a response from the Dallas Morning News on this issue.
Whats the excuse? Is the DMN still doing research that it doesnt do when covering conservatives? For an especially bad example of not researching a conservative-basher, see the highly inaccurate front-page DMN story and the 5-minute web search that demolishes the credibility of the sole source for the story. Or is the DMN intimidated by the Democrats threat to sue those who carry the ad?
Why does the DMN continue to have dual standards for reporting on politicians? We were treated to the dental records of President Bush when he did National Guard duty in Alabama (note the biased title of the article Democrats skeptical ) yet John Kerry still refuses to release his complete, uncensored military medical records. All weve been given is a summary. Why are there different standards for Kerry than there are for Bush, especially since Kerry has made his 3 Purple Hearts the centerpiece of his campaign and new information discredits the extent of his injuries?
Kerry has not disclosed the full records that led to his 3 Purple Hearts, the Silver Star and the Bronze Star. There are also missing performance evaluations (called Fitness Reports) for certain periods of his service as a Navy officer. Why isnt the DMN calling for the full release of those records? Could Kerry be refusing to release his Fitness Reports because his commanding officers found him unfit (example)? Note also that on the Fitness Reports provided, many boxes are checked Not Observed. Wasnt Not Observed one of the reasons stated by the Democrats and Dallas Morning News as casting doubt on President Bushs National Guard record?
Again, why the different standards?
The Boston Globes Michael Kranish wrote a story claiming that one of the Swift Boat Veterans had retracted his story yet the veteran, George Elliott, has issued an affidavit claiming that Kranish misrepresented his remarks.

She's used to me bashing the media and for the most part couldn't quite understand my ranting.
She commented that not only was her newspaper biased in what it did report but complained that it was being biased in what it omitted.
Ah, the light came on!!!
This newspaper article is a perfect example. Address the issue but not the undeniable aspect of Kerry's lies.

Military should not be criticized for front line action. It is hard enough being there. Charges should have been leveled and settled in country at the time. Like last week when some GI was blasted for taking an Iraq car in a cheap shot against the actions of front line troops.
