American democracy will once again be showcased for the world on September 15th as a variety of groups are already gearing up for massive demonstrations on that day in Washington, D.C. Move America Forward, the nation's largest non-profit, non-partisan grassroots group that vociferously declares their support for Operation Iraqi Freedom and the American soldiers committed to that effort, will culminate their nationwide caravan with thousands of flag waving and placarded demonstrators making a visible statement of support for American efforts to defeat terrorism and introduce democracy to Iraq. The "Fight for Victory Tour" will set out from Carson City, Nevada...

WEEK 4: Sign up Today to Show up on September 17/18 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In September, General Petraeus will report to Congress on the status of the mission in Iraq. At that time, members of Congress will decide whether to continue the mission and defeat Al Qaeda, or abandon the mission and surrender to America’s enemies. The stakes could not be higher. It is absolutely crucial that veterans have a voice in September's debate. And therefore we're asking every Iraq and Afghanistan veteran who believes in the mission - and supports our fellow soldiers and Marines still serving - to converge on...

From Sept. 3-15, the caravan will stop in about 25 locations around the country from California to Washington, D.C., in what a Move America Forward news release describes as a series of "pro-troop rallies." But you say: "It's an entire Tuesday, and travel is expensive!" We share these legitimate concerns, but answer with this fundamental question: If not you, then who? Who else will tell Congress to give General Petraeus, his strategy, and our comrades time to complete the mission? It has come to this. It must be us. But you also say: "It's such short notice, and I have to work." Again, legitimate concerns, but we have already received commitments from numerous veterans with full-time jobs who have said--no matter the notice--I'll be there. We need the same from you. Your country needs...

WASHINGTON, July 12, 2007 – No single troop-support group can meet every request servicemembers make, but through partnerships with three other groups, Silver Star Families of America is coming closer. Under the guidance of Silver Star Families of America President Steve Newton, the group has teamed up with “Give An Hour,” “Soldiers’ Angels,” and the “Thank You Foundation.” These partnerships broaden the scope of resources the group’s able to offer servicemembers. “All three of these (partnerships) were launched within the last two weeks,” said Janie Orman, vice president of Silver Star Families of America. “They’re working great already.” Silver...

WASHINGTON, July 10, 2007 – She’s only 11 years old, but Bailey Reese has logged more community service than many Americans twice her age, all to ensure servicemembers know their sacrifices are appreciated. Bailey Reese, 11, was recently chosen as one of three American Girl doll company’s 2007 Real Girls of the Year for her efforts to thank servicemembers for their sacrifices. She does this through Hero Hugs, which she founded in 2003. She was joined in Los Angeles by Hero the bear, Hero Hugs’ stuffed mascot (left) and American Girl’s 2007 Doll of the Year, Nicki Fleming. FReepers Weldgophardline and Fire engine red entered a float dedicated to our brave troops serving in the armed services. Fire engine red worked tirelessly for two months to prepare a float that was a proud tribute to our troops for the annual parade in Greeley, Colorado. Besides displaying pictures of current service personnel, there is also a special heart on each side of the float with pictures honoring our brave troops who lost their lives fighting for our Country. Pictures will be posted shortly, and FReepers Weldgophardline and Fire engine red will add their report later.

Declaration of Troop Support In 1776 Thomas Jefferson wrote the Declaration of Independence after a committee of Founders chose him for that purpose. Later others chipped in with suggestions and redactions. Breaking off from England, the fledgling United States of America patriots discarded the popular government of royalty with its kings, dukes and barons. Instead they held that certain inalienable rights are endowed by our Creator to everybody and as such cannot be infringed upon by anyone. A popular statement to British tax collectors by the rebellious Americans during the period was "we have no king but Jesus." All...

<p>WASHINGTON, DC, June 29, 2007— Imagine our surprise when, as we started putting up our banners at the gates of Walter Reed Army hospital, there stood George, Larry and other North Carolina Gathering of Eagles members, last seen by FReepers at the Gathering of Eagles–Chapel Hill. This vanload of citizen patriots would be spending the weekend far from home to cheer the troops as Independence Day was drawing near. They had stopped by our weekly Friday night Walter Reed troop-support rally on their way to a GOE rally and counter-demonstration against northern moonbats at Fort Monmouth, New Jersey on Saturday.</p>

On Friday night, April 15, DC Chapter FReepers conducted a FReep of Code Pink's anti-war protest at the gate of Walter Reed Army Medical Center, where many of the most severely wounded troops from the war in Iraq and Afghanistan are taken for continued treatment and rehabilitation. The honor roll of those in attendance: tgslTakoma, kristinn, Doctor Raoul, hellinahandcart, sauropod, Jimmy Valentine's brother, BufordP, and BillF. Except for a few minutes when the Code Pinkos who arrived late overlapped with those who left early, we outnumbered them during the FReep. My photos are below. The announcement of the FReep is here,...

Ride & Rally for the Haditha Marines: After Action Report Leaving Seattle, June 23 Sacramento, June 26 Camp Pendleton, June 28 The response to the ride and rally was phenomenal. In many places, at many times between June 23rd and the 28th, people made standing up for the Marines their priority. I take this from the mouths of the supporters. The parents of a Marine who saw us off in Seattle said, "Should we go to support them or not? It's over 50 miles from our house and early in the morning on Saturday. But it's the PRIORITY." These Marine...

WASHINGTON, June 29, 2007 – As the nation’s servicemembers continue to fight the global war on terrorism, a group is working to make sure the Americans they’re defending are aware of their sacrifices. “The Greer Foundation raises public awareness of the sacrifices of serving the nation through outreach and commentary on the war on terror,” said Steve Greer, the group’s founder. His experiences as an Army command sergeant major in Kosovo and other places that give him the knowledge base for this endeavor, he added. Greer retired from the Army in January 2003, and started the foundation that same...

Some are calling a former U.S. Marine a hero for shooting two men — killing one — during the botched robbery of a sandwich shop in Plantation. But the men's friends and family want to know how he could gun them down and not be charged. John Lovell had just finished dinner at about 11:15 p.m. Wednesday when, Plantation police say, two men armed with guns rushed inside a Subway shop and demanded cash. After robbing the store, the men turned to Lovell. They wanted his money, police said. But like his attackers, Lovell was armed. The retired military man...

SAN DIEGO, June 26, 2007 – Educators attending the Military Impacted Schools Association’s summer meeting here today got a warm thank you from the Defense Department and a lesson on how students can express support for servicemembers. MISA is a national organization representing public school districts that serve high concentrations of military children. “I do want to thank you, as an educator … for what you do,” said Allison Barber, deputy assistant secretary of defense for internal communications and public liaison and a former teacher. “Many of you know that the morale of our troops is based on support that...

When the moonbats started to show up, one young-challenged moonbat (BELOW RIGHT) pointed out the correct corner...

WASHINGTON (AP) -- The Pentagon said Wednesday it has created a new Web site to help veterans who face difficulty returning to their old jobs or finding new ones after deployments in Iraq and Afghanistan. Michael Dominguez, principal deputy under secretary of Defense, said the program, dubbed TurboTAP, seeks to improve on its current Transition Assistance Program by letting National Guard and Reserve servicemembers get job information, build a resume online and do a job search all in one place. In addition, veterans would be able to create a customized transition plan from military to civilian life. They also would...
