New Hampshire Gov. Chris Sununu (R) said on Sunday that he disagreed with former President Trump's idea of potentially pardoning people charged in connection with storming the Capitol on Jan. 6 of last year. "Of course not, oh, my goodness, no," Sununu said on CNN's "State of the Union" when asked if the rioters who were part of the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol should be pardoned.
  • Space X launch in Florida

Would like to see a launch this summer. Any suggestions on where to stay and where to view launch. Not like I want to be close enough to see the paint peeling from launch tower, yet I don't want to be so far away that it looks like a magic mark w/ flames.
  • Congressman suggests moat around White House

Faced with an increasing number of White House intrusions that led to the resignation of a Secret Service director, a congressman on Wednesday suggested that maybe a moat should be erected around the president’s home. The suggestion was made by Rep. Steve Cohen, a Tennessee Democrat, at a House Judiciary Committee hearing. With hand gestures, Cohen suggested a moat roughly six-feet wide may be “attractive” and “effective.” Joseph Clancy, the acting director of the Secret Service, didn’t dismiss the suggestion out of hand. “Sir, it may be,” he said. Clancy said the Secret Service and the National Park Service were...

I have a suggestion for the software. How about a box that pops up when I'm posting that says something to effect of: Attention, you've been clicking from thread to thread, and you're about to reply to a topic that has been dead for 3 years, are you sure you want to look like an idiot? I for one would find it useful. :)

Moderator- Following is a suggestion to add a feature to this board. Feel free to move this as it is clearly not news. I post it here because I hope that it will generate the greatest amount of feedback. I have no programming experience whatsoever so I don't know if it is possible or if it were possible if it can be done cost effectively, but the suggestion would be to rate the stories posted on a scale from 1 to 10 and then show the top rated stories in a sidebar similar to the "Breaking News" sidebars on the...
  • Feature proposal: FR Prediction Market (Vanity)

There's a saying, opinions are like a-holes, everybody's got one. Ain't it true. Even here at FR there are vociferous posters on both sides of every issue. Often on all ten sides of an issue. Wouldn't it be great to know who's probably talking sense from the BSers? I think it would. And there's a way to do it, prediction markets. There are a lot of them out there, and no doubt many FR posters participate in them. Many probably do quite well. But there's no way to tie their track record on those markets to their posted opinions on...

Want to get the Plame and DSM issue off of the national radar, Mr. President? Pressure the oil companies to start funneling their obscene profits - profits so huge that the senior executives are complaining about their inability to spend it - into rolling the price of gas back to $1.25/gallon. Either that or declare a moratorium on the federal gas tax and encourage the states to do the same. Just a suggestion.

Biases of the nose By Julie Kirkwood Staff Writer A rose by the name "burnt plastic" would in fact not smell as sweet, scientists announced last week. A team of European researchers conducted odor experiments to see if the label of an odor changes a person's impression of what they're smelling. They asked volunteers to sniff a cheese fragrance. When it was labeled "cheddar cheese" the volunteers rated it favorably. Yet when the same fragrance was labeled "body odor" they found it disgusting. The preference wasn't just talk. The scientists used brain scans and saw that the words "cheddar cheese"...

I've noticed that some perceptive posters have succeeded in providing links which circumvent login pages at some news websites by giving a link to the 'printer-friendly' version of the news story. For the good of the forum, if we are posting from a subscription website, could we all test the link to the printer-friendly version and see whether it gets around the login page? If so could we post it, rather than the link to the main story? Thanks. Also a suggestion to the Jim Robinson: the topics list should include something like to better cover posts like this one...
