There are few things more synonymous with the American way of life than the suburbs. While certainly not without problems, the suburbs have been home to middle class Americans since the end of World War 2, and even before. But the suburbs are under attack from certain elements of the left as a source of social inequality and (what else?) “white privilege” and “white supremacy.” If you are alarmed by this article, that’s a good thing. Because these elements of the American left seek nothing more than the total destruction of your way of life, from the people who live...

President Trump recently decided to rescind the Obama administration’s Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing (AFFH) rule, which put pressure on suburbs to construct more low-income, high-density housing in their communities. Trump’s decision met with a predictable outcry. “It’s not even a dog whistle anymore,” Connecticut senator Chris Murphy tweeted. “Our President is now a proud, vocal segregationist.” Somehow, Democrats still see the suburbs as racially homogenized, lily-white enclaves — something they haven’t been for a long time. According to demographer Joel Kotkin and urban studies professor Alan Berger, 151 million Americans live in the suburbs and exurbs, compared with only 25...

President Trump will stand with the suburban Americans who are being threatenedThe longer presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Vice President Joe Biden stays hidden in his basement, the further away he gets from everyday Americans. Only the left can get to him in his basement, and the result is a steady slide to politically disastrous positions. His most recent attack on the American people was his endorsement (or borrowing) of the Cory Booker-James Clyburn plan to use the federal government to destroy the suburbs by forcing changes imposed by Washington bureaucrats. The plan would seek to diversify American suburbs by withholding...

In recent weeks, as President Donald Trump has returned time and again to the well-worn campaign playbook of white suburban fears — accusing Joe Biden of wanting to “abolish the suburbs,” promising to block low-income housing from being built, and protecting property values — the whole routine has elicited hand-wringing that Trump has America’s increasingly Democratic suburbs all wrong. And that’s true, says Thomas Sugrue, director of metropolitan studies at New York University and a historian of race and city-suburb relations, Trump has “misread the reality of today’s suburbs.” But the thing is, most of the rest of us have,...

If you listen to the mayors of cities in chaos like Seattle and Portland, the Mostly Peaceful Protestors™ were singing kumbayah until federal officers arrived. Anyone paying attention knows this is a ridiculous narrative. Apparently, local residents have been paying attention because they are fleeing in large numbers. If you recall, Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan allowed a group of insurrectionists to take over a portion of downtown Seattle, which included unwilling participants who lived, worked, or owned businesses in the area. Huddled in their homes, they listened to chaos and gunfire every evening. During the day, a motley selection of...

President Trump told suburban voters in a tweet on Wednesday they will “no longer be bothered or financially hurt” by having low-income housing in their neighborhood after his administration revoked an Obama-era housing rule. The Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing, or the AFFH rule, was designed to eliminate racial disparities in housing by telling jurisdictions that receive housing funds they must assess patterns of housing discrimination and come up with a plan to diminish them. “I am happy to inform all of the people living their Suburban Lifestyle Dream that you will no longer be bothered or financially hurt by having...

In nine weeks, the borough has seen just 25 luxury homes enter into contract, an 88% decline year over year Buyers have signed deals for 25 luxury Manhattan homes since the crisis started nine weeks ago, compared to 207 contracts during the same time span last year, according to Olshan—a remarkable 88% decline year-over-year. The latest contracts highlighted some ways in which the crisis has changed buyers’ priorities to favor perks such as outdoor space. The most expensive deal, for example, was a three-bedroom condo in one of the new Waterline Square buildings, a trifecta of glass towers each designed...

If you live in the suburbs or you’re a city dweller eyeing a move to a quiet cul-de-sac where your kids can play outside, you need to know about Joe Biden’s plan for a federal takeover of local zoning laws. The ex-veep wants to ramp up an Obama-era social-engineering scheme called Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing that mercifully barely got underway before President Trump took office, vowing to stop it. Biden’s plan is to force suburban towns with single-family homes and minimum lot sizes to build high-density affordable housing smack in the middle of their leafy neighborhoods — local preferences and...

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio unveiled what her termed "as fully coordinated a COVID plan as this nation has ever seen. The three key elements of this plan are (1) releasing as many jail inmates as possible, (2) keeping as many children out of school as we can, and (3) guarding the Black Lives Matter slogan painted on the street in front of the Trump Tower building." "The close confinement prisoners have to endure is a Petri dish for pathogens," the Mayor explained. "Under my orders we have released so many inmates that we now have fewer people...

President Trump began highlighting Joe Biden’s horrific housing policy in a speech on July 16. The president is framing the policy in stark language by letting voters know that Joe Biden wants to “abolish the suburbs.” It would be great if this were hyperbole, but it is not. As Trump mentions, Biden’s policy will put local zoning in the hands of federal bureaucrats. To receive HUD grants and highway funds, communities will need to agree to eliminate zoning for single-family housing. The president then correctly draws the conclusion that housing values will go down in areas where this policy is...

President Donald Trump’s pledge to roll back an Obama-era regulation designed to eliminate racial disparities in the suburbs is drawing harsh criticism from fair housing advocates, who label it a blatant attempt to play racial politics and appeal to white voters in the final weeks before the election. They also consider it a empty political stunt, since the regulation he’s talking about eliminating never truly got started on the ground in the first place. The initiative, known as Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing or AFFH, is a provision of the Fair Housing Act that requires local governments and zoning boards to...

The desperate liars at NBC News are comparing President Trump to Democrat-segregationist George Wallace because he wants to protect America’s suburbs. The left hate the suburbs because the suburbs represent the thing the left hate most of all — the middle class. And the left despise the “bourgeois” middle class because the “bourgeois” middle class are the most difficult group to control and corrupt. Using the cynically dishonest politics of envy, it’s easy to corrupt, and by extension, control the lower economic class. The wealthy, of course, are even easier to corrupt. They are filled with ambition and want, they...

Thursday, Fox News Channel’s Tucker Carlson opened his program with a warning of what could come in a Biden administration. According to the Fox News host, if Democrats had their way, America will be similar to the country’s urban areas, and he used New York City as an example. “What’s their plan?” he said. “Well, in a sentence, they’d like to make the rest of America very much like our biggest cities have become: squalid, dangerous, chaotic and unhappy. They’d like to do to your neighborhood what they have done to New York City. The main thing they’ve done to...

President Donald Trump said on Tuesday that he may end one Obama-era housing rule, Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing (AFFH). “At the request of many great Americans who live in the Suburbs, and others, I am studying the AFFH housing regulation that is having a devastating impact on these once thriving Suburban areas. Corrupt Joe Biden wants to make them MUCH WORSE,” he wrote on a Twitter post. “Not fair to homeowners, I may END!” At the request of many great Americans who live in the Suburbs, and others, I am studying the AFFH housing regulation that is having a devastating...

Readers may recall, as early as March, city dwellers in California fled to suburbs and remote areas to isolate from the virus pandemic. The proliferation of remote work arrangements has led this shift to become more permanent. At first, the exodus out of the city was due to virus-related lockdowns, then social unrest, and now it appears a steady flow of folks are leaving the San Francisco Bay Area for rural communities as their flexible work environment (i.e., remote access) allows them to work from anywhere, more specifically, outside city centers where the cost of living is a whole...

A significant number of commentators have posited that the 2020 election will be won or lost in the suburbs. For some reason, these suburban voters seem to be signaling that they want Joe Biden to take their guns away, raise their taxes, and cause massive job losses in industries related to oil and gas. Or perhaps they are super excited about having a cognitively impaired leader of the free world. Hard to tell. However, my bet is if they figured out Joe Biden was planning on destroying their communities, they might be a little more attuned to their self-interest. Joe...

President Trump had a great riff at his rally the other day in Phoenix. It was all about “abolish,” about how the Left wants to abolish the police, ICE, bail, even borders. Trump’s riff is effective because it is true. The Left has gone off the deep end, and they’re taking the Democrats with them. Well, there’s another “abolish” the president can add to his list, and it just might be enough to tip the scales this November. Joe Biden and the Democrats want to abolish America’s suburbs. Biden and his party have embraced yet another dream of the radical...

Coronavirus cases may be on the rise in some parts of the country, but that hasn’t stopped Americans from looking for homes to buy. And increasingly, those homes are in the suburbs. A new study from Realtor.com found that Americans are showing a more pronounced interest suburban and rural areas as the housing market recovers from pandemic-induced shutdowns. Views of online home listings in May 2020 on Realtor.com grew by 13% compared to May 2019 for suburban ZIP codes, roughly double the rate of urban areas, researchers found.
