Trump tells voters who live in suburbs they ‘will no longer be bothered’ by low-income housing

President Trump told suburban voters in a tweet on Wednesday they will “no longer be bothered or financially hurt” by having low-income housing in their neighborhood after his administration revoked an Obama-era housing rule.

The Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing, or the AFFH rule, was designed to eliminate racial disparities in housing by telling jurisdictions that receive housing funds they must assess patterns of housing discrimination and come up with a plan to diminish them.

“I am happy to inform all of the people living their Suburban Lifestyle Dream that you will no longer be bothered or financially hurt by having low income housing built in your neighborhood," Trump tweeted Wednesday. “Your housing prices will go up based on the market, and crime will go down. I have rescinded the Obama-Biden AFFH Rule. Enjoy!”

This is actually the best thing Trump has done in several weeks. Smart politically and in the culture wars.

We have the same problem here in Los Angeles. it is expensive in the city. Yet they are building low income condos for the people who are living in the tents or on the ground.

This is what happened to my wifes parents neighborhood. Nice safe middle class. Brought in projects 10 years ago. Now all the stores closed. Crime skyrocketed. Litter and graffiti everywhere.

Both her parents are now dead.

We drove to her old homestead last year. She cried for 2 hours. Said she wished she never went back.

A town I lived in years ago was voted among “safest towns in America.”

No longer. Leftists, using the courts and also state government, forced some unwanted Sec. 8 housing on it. Now, a decade or two later, while not yet a total disaster, the town has much more petty crime, violations of noise and large gatherings ordnances, quality of life stuff, etc…. On the 4th of July night, someone in a local playground was discharging firearms into the air. The suspects fled into the (you guessed it) local subsidized housing development.

I have been reading the comments on Twitter and FB.

Amazingly surprised at high percentage of liberals who are for this. No one wants to see their homes communities destroyed with low income criminal element. Everyone is a realist when it comes to their own homes. Everyone wants to be safe even most liberals.

Only ones calling it racist are the very young who do not yet own homes and ghetto types.

I live in a nice neighborhood in Portland. That was until the city of Portland forced the neighborhood to allow a big apartment complex to be built here. More traffic, noise, cars on the street, destroyed the views and values of some existing homes.

Apparently the city decided we needed more dense housing despite that there were some townhomes up the street that should have fulfilled this criteria. Neighbors tried to fight this off...spent a lot of money but of course the officials in Portland didn’t care about us.

I am not surprised. Always remember that the Rev. Jeremiah Wright moved into an all-white gated community.

It’s a suburban problem. Obama declared that poor urbanites deserve to live in suburban homes that they cannot afford. So towns need to build housing projects in them or lose all federal funds. Taxes will skyrocket, schools will tank, all of that. All because Obama issued a royal decree that soon a court will say has greater weight than the 1st amendment and will required a 9/10ths majority of congress to overturn.

Everything is “generally speaking”, but “generally speaking”, does low character bring on poverty, or does poverty bring on low character?

My old high school in a town outside of Seattle had one black student and three or four asian students. I graduated in 1972.

A while back they brought in section 8 housing about 15 blocks from the school. The school went right down the toilet.

I’m a huge fan of home schooling. But that is not enough. The impact on the neighborhoods there was even worse than the impact on the school. This sort of thing is why I moved to rural KY. draw a three mile radius circle around my property and you may find fifty people.

“I am not surprised”

Read numerous comments to this affect: “I am a liberal but I worked hard for my home....

This is a win for Trump. Only the very far left radicals are for AFFA.

The other thing you have to watch for is Catholic Charities or Lutheran Social Services buying suburban houses in foreclosure and moving “refugees” into them. I know of several documented cases here.

Talk about a BS negative spin. Obongo was forcing developers to put low low income apartment buildings in any new suburban neighborhoods. Trump put a stop to it.

Yes I get that this is the gist of the article.

My point is that some of this is happening with private money too.
