WORCESTER, Mass., May 5 (UPI) -- A Massachusetts man who was drinking during a Saturday afternoon pub crawl in Boston was allegedly found “surfing” on top of an MBTA commuter train while wearing a sombrero and poncho that night. The train's engineer stopped the train between Southborough and Ashland after being told someone was on top of the train while it was traveling 40 mph.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (KCRA) -- Sacramento police arrested an interestingly clad man on suspicion of public intoxication. While an officer was sitting in his patrol car, the man walked up to him and jumped onto the vehicle's hood, according to a brief written statement from the Sacramento Police Department. The suspect, Jesse James Thomas, yelled his own name and then ran off, police said. The 55-year-old was wearing a dark puffy jacket, a sombrero and a boxing glove on one of his hands, the statement says.

The Sombrero Galaxy appears to hover in space like a glowing UFO in a new composite image made from three of NASA's Great Observatories. Data from a trio of space telescopes – Chandra, Spitzer and Hubble – have been combined to produce the new image. Chandra observations reveal hot gas that glows in X rays and extends about 60,000 light years from the centre of the galaxy, which itself is only 50,000 light years wide. The gas is probably being blown outwards by a wind driven by supernova explosions in the galaxy.

Monterey County officials probe racially offensive e-mail SALINAS, Calif. (AP) - Some 3,200 Monterey County government workers received an internal e-mail with a racially disparaging cartoon, officials said. The cartoon, which was in computers Monday, depicts a ``Mexifornia'' driver's license with a photo of a sombrero-wearing bandit. The e-mail prompted an internal investigation by the county's Information Technology Department. The cartoon originated with an information technology worker who sent it to a few co-workers, he said. One of the recipients took offense and apparently distributed the cartoon countywide.
