On Monday, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) posted details of a no bid contract with weapons manufacturer Sig Sauer, worth $4.5 million over the next five years. The contract is identical to the one DHS announced last week with Heckler & Koch. Both contracts are for $900,000 worth of "replacement parts" a year, for weapons used by DHS agents. ... When Knoxville Police Chief David Rausch announced in late January that the department would no longer use the .40-caliber Glock pistol that officers have carried since 2002, he didn’t mention any problems with the gun. Rausch said the replacement gun, a .45-caliber Sig Sauer, had more stopping power than the .40-calibers. Testing among officers also revealed they were more accurate using the Sig Sauer, he said.

With the introduction of the 1911 pistol in 2006, SIG SAUER has been building the finest, production 1911-platform pistols available. By combining modern refinements in the classic American design, SIG SAUER has created 1911s that are as accurate as they are combat- reliable. This innovation is continued with the new Fastback series of 1911s. SIG SAUER engineers have redesigned the frame and mainspring housing to create a proprietary rounded backstrap, giving the Fastback a distinctive look and advantage for concealed carry...

Gun manufacturers have been responding to a soaring interest from women with female-friendly 'purse pistols' in an array of trend-led colours and designs. Despite the concerns of anti-gun campaigners, there has been an 83 per cent rise in the number of women buying firearms for personal defence, and handbag-sized models are fast becoming a sought-after accessory across the U.S. Most weapon brands now offer a 'female-friendly' range that wouldn't look out of place in a toy shop, with many offering to customise pistols with pink paintwork and Swarovski crystals. And when Sarah Palin admitted to being a lifetime member of...
  • (Banglist Vanity) Anyone here have a Sig Sauer Gadsden?

Saw one of these at a gun show today, and after researching it, sadly see they are only making 1776 of them. As I am currently not working, I will not be able to grab one now. Curious if anyone has one.....I am not usually into these types of guns, but I must say the "Don't Tread on Me" insignia could be in no better place than on a gun. Simply sweet.

Here's a link: www.sigarms.com/products/classicpersonalsize-models.asp?product_id=233 What has your experience been? I noticed that it has a slide-mounted safety. That's different from their other DA/SA semi-autos, isn't it? Neither the P232 nor P239 or P229 etc. have them, if I recall. Thanks.
  • Why doesn't Sig-Sauer P232 magazine fall out by itself after I pull back the release?

As you know, the Sig-Sauer P232 has a European-style release (is located at bottom of grip). After I move back the release, I then still have to pull the magazine out by hand. It doesn't fall out itself by gravity. Why is the magazine designed this way? Is it true only for the P232, or does it apply to ALL guns that have European-style releases? Why couldn't it be designed so that the magazine does fall out by itself? I did a Google search but saw no discussion on this matter.

I need help picking a weapon from FR's firearms gurus! Here's the deal: 1. The choices consist of the Glock 19, Sig Sauer 226, or (boo) S&W 5946. I know you all have your favorites but these are the options and they're not going to change. 2. Money is not an issue, nor is ease of use. If one is more work but worth the effort then its worth getting. I'll just have to invest the time and energy. My life is worth it so thats ok. 3. Concealment and weight are not critical. Reliability and my confidence level are...
