Representative Eric Swalwell (D-CA) said on Friday in “MSNBC Reports” that President Donald Trump is already shutting down the government, so Democrats should not vote to fund it. Swalwell said, “What we have to do in Congress, you know, is the branch that funds government and that funds the Department of Justice is to put in place, you know, guardrails and protections against this and that funding is coming up, by the way, in just a couple of weeks.” Host Ali Vitali asked, “I’m glad that you asked about that funding, because there has been a lot of conversations about...

President Biden’s campaign manager has insisted that the chief executive is not talking “about shutting down the border” — despite Biden’s past overtures to Republicans about doing exactly that. Julie Chavez Rodriguez told the Washington Post in a profile published this week that “the president doesn’t talk about shutting down the border” and is “not advocating for shutting down the border.” Earlier this year, however, while seeking to corral Republicans into backing a bipartisan Senate supplemental spending bill that included money for border security, Biden, 81, suggested that he would crack down on migration across the US-Mexico frontier. “It’ll also...

Hundreds of hospitals in rural areas of the US are at risk of closure, according to new data from Chartis, a Chicago health care advisory services firm. A total of 141 rural hospitals have closed since 2010 — while another 453 are “at risk of closure,” according to a press release. The seven states with the most hospitals vulnerable to closures include Texas (45), Kansas (38), Nebraska (29), Oklahoma (22), North Carolina (19), Georgia (18) and Mississippi (18), as listed in Becker’s Hospital Review. In Florida, Tennessee and Nebraska, more than 41% of rural hospitals are at risk of closure....

Yesterday I was all confused, when I originally heard the news that Glenn Beck was leaving his daily Fox TV show, I wasn’t surprised. Beck had been dropping hints about it since the end of 2010. He was saying things like, “You must prepare yourselves to carry on without me,” which was a signal that he was either looking for other opportunities, God-forbid had a fatal illness, or that girl he dated finally admitted to the police that he was fully aware of the fact that she was only nine. On the other hand, the folks at Media Matters claimed...

President Obama and Harry Reid have used their appointment powers to stop the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights' investigation into the New Black Panther Party voter-intimidation case. (Don't miss James Poulos' PJTV interview with von Spakovsky and J. Christian Adams from CPAC.) For a while, at least, the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights was investigating the Justice Department’s race-based decision to dismiss the New Black Panther Party voter-intimidation case — a case DOJ had effectively won. But now President Obama and Harry Reid have used their appointment powers to stop the investigation. Never mind the incontrovertible (and mounting) evidence that...

Popular speech and political dissent have proved troublesome to President Barack Obama since the very beginning of his term in office. The Obama Administration began waging war on the minority of media outlets that did not worship at his altar immediately after he was sworn in. Just three days into his presidency Obama warned Congressional Republicans against listening to radio host Rush Limbaugh.

WASHINGTON, Sept. 9, 2007 – Al Qaeda sanctuaries are continuing to be eliminated or severely restricted as Iraqi and coalition forces maintain the initiative in keeping pressure on terrorists groups, a Multinational Force Iraq spokesman said today. “The combination of the surge, coupled with the increasing capacity of Iraqi security forces and partnerships with the Iraqi people and local tribes and sheiks, have significantly degraded al Qaeda command and control networks, their car bombing networks and their ability to produce propaganda through the media,” said Navy Rear Adm. Mark Fox during a news conference in Iraq. Fox said hundreds of...
