During the October 28 airing of CNN’s Newsroom with Carol Costello, gun control proponent Mark Kelly rejected the idea that Hillary Clinton wants to ban certain types of guns and said she simply wants to “[keep] communities and families safe.”

Democratic strategist Paul Harstad called South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham the “best future Republican ally of the [Obama] administration for the next two years.” Harstad, of Harstad Strategic Research, made the appraisal in an email to Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton’s campaign chair John Podesta on June 11, 2014. The correspondence was part of Thursday’s WikiLeaks release of Podesta’s emails. Harstad suggested President Barack Obama call Graham to congratulate him on winning the Republican primary election during his fight for re-election in 2014.

A poll published on Wednesday shows record opposition to gun bans from the American public. The survey, conducted by Gallup, found 76 percent of respondents thought there should not be a law banning civilian ownership of handguns, a four-point increase from last year and an all-time high in the 57 years the question has been asked.
