Now that Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) is effectively eliminated from the Democratic primary, the battle for his supporters is in full swing. Donald Trump laid out a welcoming message to the Sanders camp in a speech Tuesday, and Hillary Clinton urged party unity. Now, third-party candidates are starting to get in on the action. Green Party nominee Jill Stein is presenting herself as a "plan b" for Sanders supporters, saying that she's similar to their candidate and would bring change to the United States.

California voters made history on Tuesday in the race for the U.S. Senate, sending two Democrats to a November runoff and denying a Republican a spot on the fall ballot for the first time since the state’s first direct election of senators in 1914. State Atty. Gen. Kamala Harris won the largest share of the vote and the title of winner in the primary. By the end of the night, Harris led Orange County Rep. Loretta Sanchez by more than 800,000 votes, a margin of 23 percentage points.

Singer and hardcore liberal Cher made some rather outrageous comments at a posh Hollywood fundraiser for Hillary Clinton on Monday. The fundraiser, held at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles and less than a day prior to California's primaries, sounded more like a Donald Trump roast than a fundraiser for Clinton. Government has a right to regulate the Second Amendment, Hillary Clinton said in an interview on the June 5 airing of This Week With George Stephanopoulos, Clinton contended that Americans have historically recognized the government’s “right” to regulate the bearing of arms, suggesting that it was not until District of Columbia v Heller (2008) that anyone thought otherwise. For four decades, the National Rifle Association has pumped millions of dollars into federal elections, supporting both Republican and Democratic candidates who voted in accordance with the gun group’s strict view of the Second Amendment. That era is over. During the last federal election cycle, in 2014, the gun group’s spending on behalf of Democrats dwindled to virtually nothing, even as its overall election-related spending soared to more than $32 million, an analysis by the Daily News and The Trace found.

In an editorial at Investors Business Daily, we get a glimpse of one possible source of Bernie's unrelenting war on dollars: he's never really had many of them. Not that there's anything wrong with coming from modest beginnings… in fact, many voters find the idea of an American success story to be very appealing. But that's the problem when you look at Sanders' story a bit more closely: he never really achieved that success. Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid said Thursday that the Democratic race for president could drag on for months -- and possibly to the Democratic National Convention in July. In an interview with CNN, Reid said that the race between Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton shows no signs of dying down, even as the former secretary of state had hoped the upcoming Nevada caucuses and South Carolina primary would be her launching pad to the Democratic nomination.

Prodded into discussing Israel’s conduct during the Gaza conflict, and interrupted for a second time by an angry attendee, Sanders told the man: "Shut up. You don’t have the microphone." The question that had preceded the eruption was from a woman who wanted to hear more from her senator about his position. In reality, he has only cared about the man whose name he emblazons on every item he could. His campaign is not about you -- it is about him. And he will screw you, as he always has done.
