SAS troops have killed scores of al-Qaida and Taliban fighters in search-and-destroy missions across the mountains of south-eastern Afghanistan, according to senior military officials. Two SAS squadrons - a total of about 100 soldiers - have been operating on their own, without American minders, in rugged mountainous terrain over the past few months, the sources say. But unlike operations involving American or Australian special forces or Royal Marine commandos - who began returning home yesterday - the discussion of SAS operations are covered by an official blanket ban by the Ministry of Defence. Four SAS soldiers were wounded, one of...

Family Day at the Range The Colorado Chapter of the Second Amendment Sisters held their first Family Day at the range on June 15, 2002. From all aspects it appears to have been quite successful. A total of 82 shooters participated and seventy five percent were first time shooters. Most importantly, not one accident. Ballistic Resources LLC (BRLLC) of Ft. Collins did an excellent job of explaining firearm safety and providing shooting tips on an individual basis. The day was quite blustery, sunny and warm. The shooters came from Greeley, Ft. Collins, Loveland, Longmont, Ft Morgan, Aurora, Westminster, Boulder and...

An SAS team helped end a mafia money-laundering racket by taking part in a raid on a Bosnian bank, it has emerged. Explosives experts from the elite British regiment managed to blow open three safes without destroying 3.5 million marks stored inside and also seized other vital evidence. Last year's mission in the southern Bosnian town Mostar was reportedly authorised by British commanders. It was believed that the money-laundering operation was funding a plot to set up a breakaway Bosnian Croat state. Deputy commander of the Nato-led Stabilisation Force (S-For), Major General Richard Dannatt, of the Green Howards Regiment gave...

'Sisters' trumpet gun-owning rights By April Johnston - Times Staff May 13, 2002 CHIPPEWA TWP. - Diane Leasure, the Beaver County coordinator of Second Amendment Sisters Inc., firmly believes the message printed on her red, white and blue T-shirt. "Firearms - the ultimate in feminine protection." Leasure is the holder of a concealed weapon permit, the carrier of a handgun, and a believer that Second Amendment rights should be protected. She is also the victim of rape. It's a personal, and painful, incident that Leasure does not feel comfortable discussing with strangers, but she will say this much: if she...

Pro gun women find an unexpected home at a liberal Massachusetts College By JUSTIN POPE Associated Press Writer SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. (AP) All week, college student Sabrina Clark looks forward to blowing off some steam in an unexpected place. Other Mount Holyoke College undergraduates might find relief from their studies in a bar or a gym. Clark finds it at the local firing range. ``It's definitely like a meditation,'' Clark, 20, said between rounds from a 9 mm handgun. ``I do long-distance running and I hate it. This is much more stress-relieving.'' Women are increasingly visible in the gun rights...

AN Australian soldier huddled in his sleeping bag on a freezing night in the Afghanistan desert wanted to pay tribute to his mate, Sgt Andrew Russell, who had just been killed by a landmine. So he wrote a song and called it Lest We Forget. The soldier, 34, a member of the elite Perth-based Special Air Service regiment, penned the song to express how he felt at the loss of a close friend he had known for more than 10 years. The song was so important to him that he crouched inside his sleeping bag, as the temperature dropped to...

It's no longer just Middle America that believes in defending itself AP THINK of gun enthusiasts and you don't immediately think of the “polyamorous” and BDSM communities. (For the uninitiated, BDSM stands for “bondage, domination and sado-masochism”.) But that may be because you are the victim of outmoded prejudices—about gun ownership, that is, not about BDSM. The Pink Pistols, an organisation of homosexual gun enthusiasts, boasts some 2,000 members, with chapters across the country. The group introduces new shooters to the sport and endorses candidates who support both the Second Amendment and “the rights of consenting adults to love each...

With the rights to own a gun comes responsibility By Chuck Drew Executive director New Hampshire Ceasefire Portsmouth As the executive director of New Hampshire Ceasefire, a non-profit organization that promotes public safety by reducing gun violence and injury in New Hampshire, I would like to address some of the misstatements found in the March 16 letter by Evelyn Logan from the Second Amendment Sisters. New Hampshire Ceasefire is a gun violence prevention organization. We recognize that the New Hampshire state constitution gives law-abiding people the right to bear arms, and we promote legislation which acknowledges that right. We also...

AUSTRALIAN troops had attracted an embarrassing level of praise from international coalition partners in the war against terrorism, Defence Minister Robert Hill revealed yesterday. Mr Hill made the comments as he farewelled another deployment of SAS personnel to the war in Afghanistan. The new troops will replace about 150 personnel returning from the region after a five-month deployment, some of whom took part in the Operation Anaconda offensive. "All reports that I get are that they've done extraordinarily well on the ground, and they are highly regarded for what they've achieved," Mr Hill said. "In fact, it almost becomes embarrassing...

BRITAIN'S SAS is on standby to mount a series of surgical raids inside Yemen to wipe out al Qaeda terrorists believed to have found sanctuary among the mountain clans in the country's remote and lawless north. Troopers from two of the unit's four operational "sabre squadrons" have been training for the mission in Afghanistan by carrying out dress rehearsals in terrain identical to that of the target area. The late deployment of SAS troopers to the 12-day battle around Shah-e-Kot in Afghanistan last week was due to the demands of that training schedule. Despite the fact that between 200 and...

"ATF Night" continues to draw the BIGGEST Names in the movement to restore ALL of the Bill of Rights! This Thursday, March 21, in Culver City, California at "ATF Night" we will have as our Featured Speaker: Rev. Jesse Lee Peterson The subject of Rev. Peterson's talk at ATF Night will be:"How unconstitutional "gun-safety" laws, registration schemes, and laws banning the sale of inexpensive firearms have a destructive impact upon the inner cities, and leads to MORE crime, injuries, and deaths." Rev. Jesse Lee Peterson is the most articulate, outspoken critic of the civil-rights establishment in America today. Often referred...

No need for more gun laws By Evelyn Logan N.H. State Coordinator Second Amendment Sisters I would be very interested in knowing the actual wording of that UNH poll that shows support for stricter gun sale laws. Polls are funny things, as you no doubt know. The first and most obvious way to skew results is to call only people who will answer the way you wish. The second is to word the question(s) in such a way that what you’re really asking is hidden. For instance, I support safety courses for those who wish to carry concealed weapons, and...

New Zealand troops spied on al Qaeda forces in last week's fierce United States offensive in the mountains of eastern Afghanistan, say Israeli journalists. The website debka.com said the elite Special Air Service troops were dropped on to mountains of eastern Afghanistan to spy on the build-up of al Qaeda and Taleban forces and guide 1500 US and Canadian troops in their assault, codenamed Operation Anaconda. They and special forces from Australia and Norway worked in teams of three to five soldiers, hiding in caves above the snowline for up to four weeks. Debka would not reveal its sources, but...

Prime Minister Helen Clark today acknowledged that members of the New Zealand SAS were in Afghanistan. She issued a statement after a White House website confirmed they were there. Miss Clark has previously refused to say anything other than that SAS soldiers were offered to the United States to help in the war against terror and people should assume the offer would be accepted. The statement said Miss Clark "formally acknowledged the presence of members of the SAS in Afghanistan" and quoted her as saying: "The Government's reluctance to confirm the presence of members of the SAS in Afghanistan has...
