Family Day at the Range
The Colorado Chapter of the Second Amendment Sisters held their first Family Day at the range on June 15, 2002. From all aspects it appears to have been quite successful. A total of 82 shooters participated and seventy five percent were first time shooters. Most importantly, not one accident.
Ballistic Resources LLC (BRLLC) of Ft. Collins did an excellent job of explaining firearm safety and providing shooting tips on an individual basis.
The day was quite blustery, sunny and warm. The shooters came from Greeley, Ft. Collins, Loveland, Longmont, Ft Morgan, Aurora, Westminster, Boulder and many other towns. They were young and old, women and men, boys and girls.
The operator of Ballistic Resources happens to be a man named Charles Bosley, hence the Charlie's Angels awards. The winners of the prizers were:
1st Place "Charlie's Angels" award Suzie Ewing
Certificate for a 4hr.Tactical Defense class.
If You Love a Lady SAS T-shirt
2nd Place "Charlie's Angels" award Mary Jo Buchanan (11 yr )
Certificate for a 4hr.Tactical Defense class
SAS Cookbook
3rd "Charlie's Angels" award Kathy Jarrett
Certificate for a 4hr.Tactical Defense class
Gun Facts Book
"Sharp Shooter" award Patrick McClintock (11 yr)
Certificate/$20 off Sportsman's Warehouse coupons
Gun Facts Book
Shooters were welcomed by the Second Amendment Sister's banner.
The first thing everyone had to do was sign in.
Dorié Buchanan and her two daughters Mary Jo and Dorié Le and Joni (not pictured) womaned the table.
There was plenty of SASSY STUFF for sale too.
Then it was out to the firing line where everyone received excellent traing by NRA instructors.

We also had use of the adjoing range for experienced shooters that wanted to shoot their own firearms. Here Denny and Joni try out a Makarov.
Jim and Jimmie from Greeley tried out her new, never fired .357 Lady Smith.
Sue Rehg, Colorado State SAS co-coordinator kept everyone well informed throughout the day.
Nancy Geske gave away what seemed like an endless supply of door prizes from area merchants.
The cooks, Denny Jay and Craig Weeks toiled over a hot stove to feed the masses.

There were many of Oleg Volk's pictures posted throughout the area.

After lunch Al Albertus gave yet another very informative hands on demonstration
in the fine art of hand reloading. Al has been reloading for decades and has a wealth
of information that he gladly passes along.
Bob Simon, the president of the range, in the yellow shirt stopped by and talked with Sue Rehg and Tom Buchanan to see if everything was going ok. Bill Cox the caretaker of the range stopped by several times throughout the day to see if we needed anything too. The folks at the High Plains Shooting Range were just wonderful.
Everyone had a great time and many wanted to know when we were going to do it again. Soon, I hope.
