While most of the U.S. has begun to reopen, some parts of the country remain under burdensome restrictions that can’t be justified by either science or logic. Most of New York, Michigan and the Washington D.C. metro area remains under lockdown through at least Memorial Day weekend. Some beaches in Virginia and New York reopened over the weekend, but Democratic New York Mayor Bill de Blasio made it clear that swimming is forbidden, saying beachgoers who swim in the ocean will “be taken right out of the water.” “Obviously first and foremost, help make everyone remember don’t go in the water....

Restaurants throughout South Carolina can reopen for limited dine-in services beginning Monday (May 11th). South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster made the announcement Friday. Additionally, McMaster announced that he has lifted all boating restrictions, as defined by Executive Order 2020-25, effective immediately. All laws and regulations concerning the safe operation of boats in South Carolina will now return to normal. “As we gradually and methodically lift restrictions aimed at combating the coronavirus, it is incumbent upon South Carolinians to follow to the guidance and recommendations provided by our public health experts to keep themselves and their loved ones safe,” said McMaster....

Here’s a sensible question. If the mayor of the most notable metropolis in the country can openly suggest that the government has the right to permanently shutter the doors of a church if it refuses to comply with “social distancing” guidelines, or any other edict the government finds necessary in a given moment, then what can’t the government do? Just a few weeks ago, the threat of COVID-19 was considered by nearly everyone to be potentially far deadlier than it has yet proven to be. The fatality rates, hospitalization rates, and the predictions of American death tolls (once routinely touted...

A high-stakes debate is playing out among key figures in President Trump’s orbit over how quickly to loosen restrictions meant to combat the coronavirus. A number of people around Trump have pushed for prioritizing the economy and sending people back to work as quickly as possible, particularly in less afflicted areas. But Trump’s own public health officials and some of his allies on Capitol Hill have warned against risking higher infection rates and deaths for the sake of boosting the economy in the short term. Sources close to the Trump administration described a “split” in the larger Trump World where...

I’m announcing new steps to combat the spread of #COVID19. These actions are based on the facts and on data, and come after careful consultation with public health experts from every county in Arizona, our hospitals, local elected officials, and private sector partners. They reflect guidance from the CDC and the latest recommendations from the Arizona Department of Health Services while going even further to bolster our efforts with additional manpower and resources. To ensure Arizonans have continued access to food, I’m activating the National Guard to assist grocery stores & food banks in the face of heightened demand. This...

Ten weeks into my first pregnancy, I had a miscarriage. It was really devastating. My doctor said, ‘You know, this happens all the time and there’s no reason for you to not try again when you’re ready.’ So, a month later, I was pregnant again. We made it through the first trimester with no problems. Then we started to get some concerning blood test results and my pregnancy was elevated to be high risk. I was transferred to a high risk maternal fetal medicine obstetrician in New York City and was highly monitored, getting checks every couple of weeks, and...

WASHINGTON — The Trump administration has temporarily shelved a proposed rule change that would further restrict American sales to Huawei, the Chinese telecom giant, after some officials in the Defense Department and other agencies argued that the measure, which was intended to protect national security, could actually undermine it, according to people familiar with the matter. The rule change, which multiple government agencies were reviewing, would close a loophole that allowed technology companies like Intel and Micron to continue shipping chips, software and other products to Huawei despite a ban that prevented the Chinese company from buying some American products....

NEW HAVEN, Connecticut, January 22, 2020 (LifeSiteNews) – Exactly forty-seven years after the passage of Roe v. Wade legalizing abortion in the U.S., a new Marist poll shows that a strong majority of Americans across the country want to elect candidates who support substantial abortion restrictions. The poll also found that most Americans still reject the Supreme Court’s reasoning in the 1973 case. “Most Americans want the court to reinterpret Roe either by stopping legalized abortion or by returning the issue to the states,” said Knights of Columbus CEO Carl Anderson. The Knights of Columbus is the survey sponsor. According...

The Trump administration on Wednesday proposed a rule that would expand the list of crimes, including some misdemeanors, for which a migrant can be barred from being granted asylum in the U.S. "Because asylum is a discretionary benefit, aliens who are eligible for asylum are not automatically entitled to it," the rule says. "Rather, after demonstrating eligibility, aliens must further meet their burden of showing that the Attorney General or Secretary should exercise his or her discretion to grant asylum." The proposed regulation, announced by the departments of Justice and Homeland Security, would provide seven additional restrictions for asylum eligibility...

Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA) falsely claimed during the Democrat debate Tuesday night that “women will die, poor women, women of color will die” because Republican-led states have passed abortion restrictions. Sen. Kamala Harris said during the segment of the debate on health care in Ohio that Republicans “have passed laws that will virtually prevent women from having access to reproductive healthcare.” She added: And it is not an exaggeration to say, women will die, poor women, women of color will die because these Republican legislators in these various states who are out of touch with America are telling women what...

In the midst of rightfully calling out President Trump for some of his overheated rhetoric reacting to the Democrats’ impeachment inquiry, on Tuesday, MSNBC immediately undermined its criticism by engaging its own extreme rhetoric and suggesting that “heavily armed” Trump supporters would march on Washington “to protect their president.” “President Trump ratcheting up his rhetoric as he tries to derail the push for impeachment proceedings. On Twitter, he’s quoted a top supporter who said impeachment could create a, quote, ‘Civil War-like fracture,’” anchor Craig Melvin warned in the 11:00 a.m. ET hour. Turning to Washington Post political reporter Eugene Scott,...

WASHINGTON — Moving ahead despite objections, the Trump administration on Friday set a timetable for federally funded family clinics to comply with a new rule that bars them from referring women for abortions. The move is part of a series of efforts to remake government policy on reproductive health to please conservatives who are a key part of President Donald Trump’s political base. Religious conservatives see the family planning program as providing an indirect subsidy to Planned Parenthood, a major abortion provider.

Sometimes it seems from reading posts on here that the average Freeper thinks that guns are pretty much banned in the UK. They aren't, though. Handguns are banned (unfortunately), but otherwise we have a reasonable choice of legal weaponry, including Accuracy International sniper rifles if you have £23K to spare. Semi-automatic rifles are limited to .22 rimfire, but bolt-action rifles are not. Here's a link to my nearest gun dealer, so you can see what's available this side of the pond: https://www.thecountryman.com/ Comments welcome - not trying to start any fights, just interested in opinions. Personally I own a Mossberg...

The Left-wing extremists who have taken over the Democrat Party will soon experience what they fear most: U.S. Supreme Court-imposed limitations on abortions. You read that right. I’ll explain. No doubt many readers still remember the nightmare circus created by Democrats during Brett Kavanaugh’s confirmation hearings. The wild, unsubstantiated accusations leveled against him by Sens. Dianne Feinstein, Kamala Harris, Dick Durbin, Cory Booker, and others that he was some serial rapist from high school who drugged women and helped his friends gang-rape them during parties shocked the consciences of most Americans who watched them. So pathetic and outrageous was the...

There were two articles on Rush's show that caught my attention, and both are here in reverse order. First : Rush’s Immigration Answer to a 13-Year-Old Strikes a Chord Nov 19, 2018 RUSH: Northport, New York. This is Billy. Thank you for calling, sir. Great to have you with us. CALLER: Great to be here. Mega dittos, Rush. RUSH: Thank you. CALLER: Rush, last Thursday was a God-awful day in New York with traffic, but I want to tell you something. You made it worthwhile. There was a young girl that called in from Ohio, she was home sick, she...

Time and time again, we’ve seen mass shooters find loopholes in the law or ignore it entirely. You can vote at 18. You can become a parent, work full-time, get married, or even fight overseas in the military. But if gun-control advocates get their way, you won’t be able to buy a gun until you’re 21.In response to the February 14 school shooting at Parkland High School, the Florida state legislature just passed a bill that will increase the age requirement to buy guns –– an idea that’s gaining support across the country. During a bipartisan meeting on school safety,...

1) Obama thinks Google, Facebook, etc., are "a public good as well as a commercial enterprise," and should consider whether they are corroding our democracy. Obama described social media platforms as a "hugely powerful potential force for good," but then immediately hedged. "... I do think the large platforms—Google and Facebook being the most obvious, Twitter and others as well, are part of that ecosystem—have to have a conversation about their business model that recognizes they are a public good as well as a commercial enterprise...." "Essentially we now have entirely different realities that are being created with not just...

Effective immediately, U.S. service members on Okinawa are restricted to base and to their residences. Until further notice, alcohol consumption is prohibited. This includes in residences and public locations such as bars and clubs, and hotels. Additionally, U.S. service members on mainland Japan are prohibited from purchasing or consuming alcohol, on or off base. The new restrictions follow an accident Sunday morning in Naha in which a Okinawan man was killed when his vehicle was struck by a truck being driven by a U.S. service member. Alcohol may have been a factor. Commanders across Japan will immediately lead mandatory training...

This morning, MSM was in an uproar over alleged restrictions on reporters who wonder the halls of the Capital looking for interviews. Journalist Kasie Hunt was quick to express her outrage on Twitter in a string of rambling Tweets: https://twitter.com/kasie/status/874650189885263872 https://twitter.com/kasie/status/874650438439751685
