Im announcing new steps to combat the spread of #COVID19. These actions are based on the facts and on data, and come after careful consultation with public health experts from every county in Arizona, our hospitals, local elected officials, and private sector partners.
They reflect guidance from the CDC and the latest recommendations from the Arizona Department of Health Services while going even further to bolster our efforts with additional manpower and resources.
To ensure Arizonans have continued access to food, Im activating the National Guard to assist grocery stores & food banks in the face of heightened demand. This will ensure grocery stores have the manpower needed to keep shelves stocked @AZNationalGuard
I'm issuing an Executive Order that halts all elective surgeries in the state to free up medical resources and maintain the capacity for hospitals and providers to continue offering vital services. This will reserve critical protective equipment for the fight against COVID-19.
Im issuing an Executive Order that requires restaurants in counties w/ confirmed cases of COVID-19 to provide dine-out options only, and closes bars, movie theaters and gyms. Restaurants will be allowed to deliver alcoholic beverages w/ food purchase
I'm issuing an Executive Order to delay expiration dates on Arizona driver licenses, ensuring residents over the age of 65 do not need to visit Motor Vehicle Division offices to renew their driver licenses during the public health emergency.
This is an all-in effort. We remain focused in the state of Arizona on proactively limiting the spread of COVID-19 and will continue to protect public health. Visit azhealth.gov/COVID19 for more.

I winter in Arizona and usually head back home at the end of March. Late last Thursday night I made the command decision to head home immediately. I left Saturday morning and just arrived home early this afternoon. It appears I made the correct decision.
So, which counties?
At least this is more reasonable by only placing more restrictions on areas with cases, not the entire state “out of an abundance of precautions.”
I wonder if that really means they will be there to control access and enforce purchase limits.
One of the walmarts close to us had security guards at each end of the TP aisle.
“So, which counties?”
Yavapai County has its First Positive Case of COVID-19
again I ask....WHY NOT QUARANTINE THE MOST VULNERABLE FOR 2 WEEKS?...why quarantine everybody else.....
22 Maricopa 1 Coconino, 10 Pinal, 7 Pima, 3 Navajo and 1 in Graham. (44 Total today.)
Everyone is vulnerable. Are you going to quarantine those over 59 because the virus hits them disproportionately harder? Young people are dying too.
Anyone with an immune compromised system should be self-quarantined already. Foolish if they aren't.
But it's not in the cards because fear of this virus is more than (fill in the blank.) This fear provides opportunities to control other people. And some folks just can't pass that up.
Reasonably, we would issue recommendations and let people decide what risks they are willing to take. Believing this is Armageddon (but things that cause more death are not) a fair amount of reason is slipping out the window.
Look at some of the “do something” edicts - especially those that seem to make little or no sense or those likely to produce non-compliance and this seems like an exercise in something other than preventing disease.
Not sure what that would accomplish... everybody out running around would continue to pass it around some would get sick, others would be asymptomatic and not even know they were spreading it. Then the most vulnerable would come out 2 weeks later and walk into the same situation they got out of.
We remain focused in the state of Arizona on proactively limiting the spread of COVID-19 and will continue to protect public health.

Wow....finally a governor who is using good common sense. Rational precautions without devastation of the economy.
Governor Ducey, I forgive you for appointing McSally.
As opposed to whom?
In two weeks, itll be nice outside. Open your windows and doors. The 1918 Pandemic didnt like fresh air and sunshine and neither will this one.
Executive Orders typically only apply to the Executive branch of government. Among Duceys EOs, I only see one that relates to the DMV that would be valid. I guess hes using some power from an Emergency Declaration to tell hospitals & restaurants how to conduct business.
And most other items still on sale mark down.
Yes and No. Arizona counties have large stretches of sparsely populated area and isolated small towns. It is still overly broad. And questionably legal.
At least he hasn’t issued orders on firearms & ammunition though he has wanted a Red Flag law that he has not gotten.
In our town much more contact is made in grocery stores. But the “service dogs” have disappeared!
As opposed to whom?

I liked Kelli Ward. She was a better candidate than McSally, but I guess thats all water under the bridge now. That being said, McSally seems to be improving a bit as a campaigner and is beginning to seem a little more confident. Hoping for the best.
I live in Mohave County and we have one confirmed case.
