Update – October 12, 2021 8:45 a.m. ET Young America’s Foundation is closely monitoring the Alisal Fire near Rancho del Cielo and taking all necessary precautions. This fire started on Monday, October 11, near the Alisal Reservoir and has covered more than 3,900 acres. The fire has closed Refugio Road and portions of Highway 101. It is spreading throughout an area that has not burned since 1955, and current conditions—high winds, warm temperatures, and low humidity—are fueling the fire’s spread. Darkness and winds stopped the tanker planes from being able to drop over the fire last night. Young America’s Foundation...

As you know, Sarah Palin was a girl of a sixteen when President Reagan was sworn in as our 40th president. When the Young America’s Foundation asked her to their Keynote speaker at the celebration of Ronald Reagan’s centennial she was both humbled and honored, but we all know why she was chosen and why she was the perfect selection. Our own Al B. has taken his own time to bring us the text of her remarks! - - - - - - - - - - - - [STANDING OVATION]Well thank you so much. Thank you. Thank you...

Reporting from Santa Barbara - Hannah Giles was in the middle of her guerrilla warfare lecture this weekend at the young conservatives leadership conference when a man in the audience interrupted her. "We love you!" he cried out. The crowd erupted in applause and whistles. "Aw," Giles said into the microphone. "I love you guys too." At age 20, Giles is a rock star of conservative activism. She shot onto the national scene in September after posing as a prostitute at ACORN offices around the country, where she secretly videotaped employees who appeared to give her advice on tax evasion,...

Santa Barbara, California -- You drive up a steep, rough and winding road to reach Ronald Reagan's ranch in the Santa Ynez mountains. For eight years, from 1981 to 1989, this place north of Santa Barbara was the Western White House; Reagan spent nearly a year of his time in office here. Now, what he called Rancho del Cielo is pretty much deserted. ... The first thing that strikes you as you approach the house is how modest it is. The main part of the building was constructed in 1871. Even after Reagan added a couple of rooms when he...

  • The Reagan Ranch - A bloggers visit and pictures

Friday afternoon we traveled up to the Reagan Ranch itself. Now this is a pretty great honour as it is not open to the public. It will open one day, but for now probably only a few hundred or thousand people have been there. This was more than just a ranch - he spent one eighth of his presidency here - it came to be known as the Western White House. It is around 40 minutes out of Santa Barbara, and a very windy steep road takes you up to the ranch. The ranch is around 600 acres, but is...

The Gipper’s Ghost by JEFFREY VALLANCE Since the death of Ronald Reagan, various ghostly phenomena have been reported up at the Reagan Ranch in the hills above Santa Barbara. Rancho del Cielo (cielo means “heaven” in Spanish) was Reagan’s favorite place in the world. The hacienda-style estate, neighboring Michael Jackson’s blighted Neverland, is preserved in the exact condition it was in when the Reagans lived there, as if they just stepped out and will return at any moment. Even Reagan’s favorite jellybean jar is still there, complete with a few uneaten beans. Reagan kept several horses at the ranch stable....

Under gray skies and with his voice cracking, Spirit of '76 Association President Paul Lamberton said Thursday that his group's giant American flag, paint-bombed while on display at the Lobero Theatre, cannot be saved. The news of the $5,000 flag's impending retirement came hours after Young America's Foundation officials found paint splattered on the American flag at the nonprofit's Reagan Ranch Center on State Street. Police have no suspects in either attack and are asking the public's help in their investigation. Meanwhile, a tearful Mr. Lamberton raised the reward his group is offering to $3,000 and urged the "anonymous creatures...

Ronald ReaganHE TURNED A HUMBLE CALIFORNIA ABODE INTO THE WESTERN WHITE HOUSE AND HELPED A NATION BELIEVE IN ITSELF AGAIN By Reid SlaughterCowboys & Indians, July, 2001 A dense fog hung over the Santa Ynez Valley on the morning of August 13, 1981. As a sizeable army of expectant journalists untangled their gear and readied for the moment, Secret Service agents dragged two pieces of leather-bound patio furniture out onto the gravel driveway. Then, from the doorway of a small, 100-year-old   adobe house, wearing blue jeans and cowboy boots, the leader of the free world emerged.Ronald Reagan, just...
