    1. My life is likely to last 10-15 years. Any separation from you is likely to be painful. 2. Give me time to understand what you want of me. 3. Place your trust in me. It is crucial for my well-being. 4. Don’t be angry with me for long and don’t lock me up as punishment. You have your work, your friends, your entertainments. But I have only you. 5. Talk to me. Even if I don’t understand your words, I do understand your voice when speaking to me. 6. Be aware that however you treat me, I will never...

A former UPS driver has sued Joe Namath, alleging he was attacked by the Hall of Fame quarterback's dogs while making a delivery at his Florida Home. Attorneys for David Gunter say he hasn't been able to work since the 2007 incident in Tequesta, about 90 miles north of Miami. Lawyer Steven Slootsky says Gunter required four surgeries after suffering injuries to his neck, back and knee.... Gunter isn't the only one to have problems with Namath's dogs. Complaints have been filed against two of them, and one was ordered last month to be muzzled and leashed full-time.

Hector was one of 52 terribly abused and neglected dogs owned by NFL quarterback Michael Vick and his friends. He landed here in Minnesota and is now part of a student service learning project which teaches the kids not to be mean or hurt animals. "He lived outside in the woods in a wire cage. So did the other dogs. They had very little food, very little water," said kindergarten teacher Amber Anderson. Third graders at Barack and Michele Obama school in St. Paul got a special visit Tuesday from Hector. "In St. Paul, there seem to be quite a...

Days after getting the call that her 11 year old Lab, Shilo, had been mauled, Peggy Navarrete is still haunted by watching her family's pet's last moments in a vet's office. "I don't sleep at night. I close my eyes and I'm back in that vet's office seeing all that blood," Two doors down, her neighbor, Cristie Noble faces the same nightmare. Her dog lingered in a losing fight, his body temperature dangerously low from shock and lying wounded in the snow. "He was lying on a table, wrapped in a blanket. There was blood on his head and one...

TAMPA - From her hospital bed at St. Joseph's in Tampa, Kelly Doxsey showed what happened to her upper arm after a pit bull attack back in Nov. 23. That's when she says she and her 7-year-old niece, Karoline McQueary, were walking on a sidewalk along Wood Lake Boulevard in Town 'N Country area. Doxsey was walking her small dog, named Scrappy. "Oh geez. Is this really graphic really necessary? We found it over at CBS 5, attached to today's "2 Pit Bulls Who Mauled Dog Shot In East Palo Alto" item. The story goes like this: An East Palo Alto cop "shot two pit bulls" that had just mauled a tiny poodle mix as it was being walked by its owner last night. Then, the aggressive pooches "approached responding officers in a 'vicious manner,'" which is when the fuzz had no other choice but to open fire, killing the dogs. But these kind of headlines and jarring graphics, of course,...

A lot of talk about dangerous dogs has some concerned about pit bulls in particular. One member of the embattled breed, a pit bull mix, more specifically, has become a loved part of a loving family. The pit bull is not recognized by the American Kennel Club as an official breed. A pit bull can be a combination of the American bull terrier, a stafishord terrier, a bull terrier or even a bulldog. They have become very popular, but also very controversial. These dogs have a bite notorious for its power and grip, and are reported in bite incidents over 30 percent...

But I have a problem with pit bulls. And it has more to do with the two-legged creatures holding their leashes (if there is a leash).Because of their sheer numbers—estimates show that there are anywhere from 5 million to 10 million pit-bull-type dogs in the U.S. today, out of about 61 million total dogs—pits have become the dog du jour for a lot of people, not just gangbangers and wannabe thugs who use a pit as proxy for toughness. About 20 percent of dogs in ASPCA shelters are pit mixes. I've seen those who adopt these dogs for all the...

"I'm scared," Watson said. "I've got three kids who are going to be without a mom to be there for them." Watson was sentenced to seven years in prison; that's part of the reason she can't stop crying.

Italy is to scrap its blacklist of dangerous dogs, replacing it with a law making owners more responsible for their pet`s training and behaviour, Health Undersecretary Francesca Martini said Tuesday. The new law, which will come into effect in April, will wipe clean the current list of 17 breeds which are considered potentially dangerous, including Rottweilers, pit bull terriers, bull mastiffs and American bulldogs. Under the current law, owners of these breeds are required to keep them muzzled in public places and ensure that they pose no danger to others, while failure to respect the law can result in the...
