Jefferson Parish officials say they believe an unexpected show of force cleaning up beaches on the parish’s Gulf Coast was staged for President Obama’s visit. Those officials said they received many calls to their office from eyewitnesses who said the workers showed up in several buses around 7:30 a.m. The buses were loaded with workers – a show of force the officials said hadn’t been seen to this point in cleanup efforts.
