As tensions between the United States and China continue to rise, the trend of iconic American companies and brands being purchased by Chinese companies — some of them government-sponsored entities — has continued to accelerate. In some cases, the American company has been sold in full, and in others, investors have merely purchased a stake. But here are some important American brands, now owned at least in part by Chinese companies:

Several years ago I attended a dinner at a five star restaurant given by a very famous conservative organization - to remain unnamed. One of the movers and shakers of Inside-the-Beltway. One guest entered and was immediately mobbed by the others. This guest was a very famous “Republican” pollster - also to remain unnamed. Curiosity compelled me to approach this great man and snatch whatever pearls of wisdom I could. Our post-partisan President reached a new low yesterday. Speaking at Zingerman’s in Ann Arbor, Michigan he declared Paul Ryan’s budget a “stinkburger” or “meanwich.” Obama is apparently promoting an increase in the minimum wage. He went to Zingerman’s because they allegedly offer a “fair” wage. The left doesn’t seem to understand that a “fair” wage is whatever an employee agrees to work for. In other words, it isn’t determined by government bureaucrats or academics. That’s beside the point of course, we know Obama believes everything in our lives must be decided in Washington. The Ten Commandment exterminators are out in full force. All around America, public displays of the Ten Commandments are the object of lawsuits, ACLU threats, city council battles, and civil disobedience. As Slate magazine writes, “It’s starting to be the Summer of Decalogues....(snip .....the people who are offended by the Ten Commandments are the ones who are eager to make it easier to violate them. They may not be murderers, rapists, and robbers, but they probably want greater leeway in the sentencing of thugs. They probably don’t cheat on taxes, but they didn’t mind when a president lied in court....
