A pirate radio station offering Talmudic wisdom and spouting Jewish fables has for weeks been interfering with 105.9 WQXR’s public broadcast in Kensington, Windsor Terrace, and parts of Park Slope, and local fans of New York’s only classical radio station say they’re fed up. “It’s public radio, I contribute to it, and I can’t listen to it because this guy’s there,” said Courtelyou Road resident Patrick Russell. “It’s the only classical station in the city, and it’s a crime!”

Governor Deval Patrick (D-MA) today sharply criticized federal agents for shutting down an unlicensed radio station in Grove Hall and said he tried to dissuade them from raiding the station that bills itself as the fabric of the black community. Patrick, the state’s first African-American governor, said he had received advanced warning from the US attorney’s office that TOUCH 106.1 FM was going to be raided and urged the office not to proceed. BROCKTON — Firefighters driving to work at the Pleasant Street station on the edge of downtown started reporting interference on their car radios this week. The FCC alleges that Lloyd Morris and Robert Brown were engaged in the operation of an unlicensed FM station at 99.7 in the Mattapan neighborhood of Boston, Massachusetts. Over six months ago (October 1, 2010), the Commission issued a $15,000 Notice of Apparent Liability against both men, and neither has filed a response. Embattled City Councilor Chuck Turner gave his first lengthy media interview to an unlicensed Grove Hall radio station that owes the federal government $17,000. Turner spent over an hour yesterday morning chatting it up with the “Wake Up Live Morning Crew” on TOUCH 106.1-FM. Turner was in the studio and took calls from listeners.
