Operator Vows To Replace Equipment & Resume Broadcasts Ottawa ON
Industry Canada and the RCMP forced Ottawa's infamous pirate radio station off the air today, showing up at the broadcast location and removing all broadcast equipment.
More (including photos) from the Ottawa Sun and the Ottawa Citizen.
The 14 year old station operator's father told media that he was assured that no charges would be filed.
UPDATE: Sunday Jan 17, 2010
During a very angry on-line broadcast via his website on Saturday, which MMU began recording after hearing him yelling "kill, kill, kill, kill you" over the song that was playing, the 14 year old operator of the station (who we will no longer be identifying by name) stated he "drank" a small bottle of Advil after the police raid, "'cuz I was mad. So I took the whole bottle and I swallowed every pill."
He describes what was taken, and what was left behind by Industry Canada & RCMP officials. Among the items they left is a 30 watt transmitter which he says wasn't labeled, as he built it himself. He figures they didn't know what it was and didn't take it, but claims it does work.
He also stated that he has purchased new equipment (a 3,000 watt transmitter; the previous one was 2,000 watts) which he says he will have installed by next Friday "one million percent."
"I'm gonna go back on air and I don't f*ckin' care what people say ok, like f*ck off. I'm like, if I lose to court I don't really f*ckin' care I'm goin' back on anyway. 'Cuz um... people gotta understand I need a station and you people have to f*ck off and mind your own business, you know."
The Ottawa Citizen also reports that he has told them that he intends to replace the gear and be back on the air.
His 30+ minute tirade also features him contemplating purchasing a TV transmitter to broadcast on channel 63, but later he says he doesn't really care about TV, but does need to have a radio station in order to live. "You people need other stuff to live, like food."
NOTE: The audio does contain foul language, and is divided up into 3 segments so as not to crash my hard drive while recording. Segment 1. Segment 2. Segment 3. Recorded begging at 3:23pm ET on Saturday January 16, 2010.
A writer at the Cornwall Free Press also heard this broadcast beginning a few minutes earlier than us, and notes several racist comments directed at "Canadians" (consistent with language he's reported to have used on the forums at DigitalHome.ca) as well as ramblings "wishing people dead."
Monday Jan 18 @ 2:19am:
During a very late night broadcast Sunday into Monday, the 14 year old operator of the station stated that he is, in fact, going to acquire a TV transmitter and will launch MIX TV which will air Disney shows, Fringe, and Degrassi to name a few. He also began experimenting with TV broadcasts by streaming recorded content as well as newspaper photos of the RCMP / Industry Canada visit.
Other revelations: he's ordered MIX FM T-shirts, has his own credit card, and uses hacked satellite dishes in order to view US TV because he hates Canadian TV.
At one absolutely shocking point during the broadcast, a voice (perhaps his father) tries to get him to leave. However the youth screams at the man, calling him "too stupid." (WARNING: This is VERY loud... watch your speakers. No... seriously...)
The broadcast signed off at 2:13am with the young man saying he had to get some sleep so that he wouldn't be tired when he called a woman at Industry Canada in the morning to "give her s---."
Kid is names Jayhaed Saade and his dad owns a hotel from which the pirate operates. I think he promised to shut it down and apply for a real license but he’s violated the promise and apparently done profanity laced tantrums on air. Sounds like a fun station, no?
or at least the tirades were online if not on air. Rules are rules kid.
A few megawatts shy of a border blaster.
Sounds like “Air America.”
Canookistan has its nuts. Just like other countries.
Young Muslim engaging in broadcast jihad?

1. Muslim: variant of Saad or Sadeh, especially in North Africa and other French-speaking areas.2. Portuguese: from Arabic sa?ad lucky, fortunate.
Not unique to Canada. About ten years ago there was a guy in Missouri who burglarized transmitter shacks of several commercial radio stations. He used the stolen parts to build a 6000 watt station which he ran out of his attic. His station format was “All Satan All The Time”.
This is common.
pirate stations screw up regular stations, particularly am.
