ALL THROUGH the spring and summer, opinion polls tracked a growing confidence that Barack Obama could handle the economy better than John McCain. Just before the Democratic convention in August, Gallup had Obama leading McCain on the economy, 54-38 - a 16-point margin. But now Obama's lead has nearly vanished. Gallup's latest numbers show the candidates nearly tied. Just 48 percent say Obama would be more adept at superintending the economy; 45 percent choose McCain. Looks like voters have started paying attention to Obama's economics. On Sept. 8, Fox News broadcast an interview between Obama and Bill O'Reilly that focused...

A new Fox News/Opinion Dynamics poll says that 50 percent of Americans believe John McCain's choice of Sarah Palin was the most effective pick in the campaign; 40 percent say Barack Obama's selection of Joe Biden was the smarter choice. That confirms the prevailing wisdom that Gov. Palin is dramatically helping McCain's chances of becoming president. Going forward, Palin must consolidate her initial gains, and it will not be easy. First of all, the tabloid press is all over Alaska looking for dirt on Palin, and you can bet they'll come up with something. No human being is perfect. And...

A Religion Columnist for the Chicago Sun-Times says she interviewed Sen. Barack Obama in March of 2004 on his faith, an interview in which he stated that he attended church at Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago, "every week" at the 11 o'clock service: GG: Do you still attend Trinity? OBAMA: Yep. Every week. 11 oclock service. Ever been there? Good service.I actually wrote a book called Dreams from My Father, it’s kind of a meditation on race. There’s a whole chapter on the church in that, and my first visits to Trinity. That simply does not jive with Obama's...

And there are certain things we've got to do. Our infrastructure — look what happened in Beijing. You go to the Olympics and these folks are building, and we've got sewer lines that are crumbling.

Here is video of Bill O'Reilly grilling Barack Obama on his radical associations with Rev. Jeremiah Wright and William Ayers. . . . (see video at link)

Obama reaches out and touches O'Reilly's knee during the Ayers interview segment on the O'Reilly Show (7:05 mark)

I did a search and didn't see where anyone had posted about Obama on O'Reilly tonight. Here is something Obama said that REALLY bothers me, in essence he said, "if you've got someone over here that's got money, and over here is a waitress making minimum wage, why not help her out, it's the neighborly thing to do." This was in response to Bill questioning about increasing taxes on the rich. It is not a function of government to redistribute income. If someone works hard to become successful, here comes Obama and he decides I can afford it, and wants...

Barack Hussein Obama finally consented to appear on Bill O'Reilly's, "The No Spin Zone," the most popular talk show on Fox News. Bill O'Reilly has mellowed quite a bit from his early days of confrontational and controversial banter with his guests. Such was the case with his interview with Obama. As questions about his Muslim roots still linger, Obama made something very clear about his take on the threat of Islamic terrorists Obama said, "Al Qaeda, the Taliban, a whole host of networks that are bent on attacking America who have a distorted ideology, who have perverted the faith of...

Like him or not, you have to give Barack Obama credit for waging a smart, focused campaign. Destroying the Clinton machine was a major achievement, and so was putting together a successful convention in Denver. Obama is now firmly a part of U.S. history no matter what happens in the presidential election. The problem some Americans continue to have with the senator is that he is long on charisma, but short on detail. This frightens some voters. Who the heck is this guy, anyway? So, when Obama finally agreed to speak to me this week, specifics were on my mind....

Obama Throws in the Towel on the Surge Barack Obama will appear on Bill O'Reilly's show tonight. Reportedly, he will say that "the surge has succeeded in ways that nobody anticipated. I’ve already said it’s succeeded beyond our wildest dreams." I must have missed that speech. Of course, Obama still says he was right to oppose the surge, notwithstanding its now-acknowledged success. The Republicanization of Barack Obama continues: Speaking on other national security matters, Obama said he would not take military action off the table in dealing with Iran, but diplomacy and sanctions can’t be overlooked. The Islamic republic is...

ST. PAUL -- Fox News "opinionater" Bill O'Reilly finally got his man. Barack Obama appears on his show this evening at 9 p.m. after an earlier taped one-on-one session with the self-proclaimed king of pithy comments. Here is a clip of Obama and O'Reilly going to eyeball to eyeball on tonight's show which is sure to raise a lot of eyebrows among the left and the right

The troop surge in Iraq has been more successful than anyone could have imagined, Barack Obama conceded Thursday in his first-ever interview on FOX News’ “The O’Reilly Factor.” As recently as July, the Democratic presidential candidate declined to rate the surge a success, but said it had helped reduce violence in the country. On Thursday, Obama acknowledged the 2007 increase in U.S. troops has benefited the Iraqi people. “I think that the surge has succeeded in ways that nobody anticipated,” Obama said while refusing to retract his initial opposition to the surge. “I’ve already said it’s succeeded beyond our wildest...

Discussing Palin, first thing out of his mouth is that she is under investigation, The next is she has "Scant" experience. He went on to say that Obama convinced him last night that he (Obama) is OK.

Barack Obama will appear on Fox News with conservative Bill O'Reilly on Thursday, the same night John McCain gives his acceptance speech at the Republican convention here. What a coincidence! The first-time appearance by the Illinois senator on O'Reilly's show will likely be a ratings draw, although it will not go head-to-head with McCain's speech. Obama's interview will air at 8:00 p.m. EDT, while McCain's speech will air after 9:00 p.m. O'Reilly will sit down with Obama Thursday in York, Pa., where he plans to question Obama on his "political career, domestic issues and foreign policy in Iran and Iraq,"...

From a post in the Blogs for John McCain Forum by BFJM member Amy: Several weeks ago, I posted that I suspected Bill O'Reilly was in the tank for Obama. After his show last night and his plans to stomp all over McCain's acceptance speech Thursday with an "exclusive" interview with Obama, I'm now convinced. I sent him the following e-mail and plan on copying this e-mail on every blog and political page that will accept it. I am beyond disgusted with the media in general and am deeply, deeply disappointed in people I used to admire. Fox News has...

ST. PAUL, Minn., Sept. 2 -- At a secret meeting with Barack Obama three months ago, Fox News Chairman Roger Ailes says, he tried to clear the air with the Democratic senator by saying that his organization was determined to be fair but would not be "in the tank" for Obama's campaign. During the sit-down in a Waldorf-Astoria hotel suite in Manhattan that included Rupert Murdoch, the network's owner, Obama expressed concern about the way Fox was covering him. "I just wanted to know if I'm going to get a fair shake from Fox News Channel," Ailes recalled him saying....
