Ok, it has been a real pleasure chatting with everyone here on FR (well, just about everyone anyways) but it's time for me to move on. I've got some work to do that is going to require 110% effort from me for extended period of time and I can't have any distractions whatsoever. I'll stop by from time to time but am afraid if I still have my account I will be tempted to post and then - as is my wont - get into silly, useless debates about things I a) don't really care about, or b) don't know...

Just a little dose of reality for some of you going nuts over the Immigration issue, because there is NO chance that you will win on the border enforcement issue. No chance whatsoever. Only after a migrant worker program passes, making most of these illegal aliens legal, is there any chance at all to have meaningful border enforcement. Bush is not running for office anymore, but the Republican Congress is in need of a big victory in November. This issue will kill our chances to maintain the majority, and knowing that, Bush will likely veto any bill making illegal immigration...

Jim Robinson you are a cheap, manipulative, second-rate huckster. I did some research and found out that you have changed your tune over the years regarding several things. Remember this little gem?

I guess money talks and bullshit walks right? When will you have to change your tune on McCain to make ends meet? Back up those comments on this forum today and maybe you won’t be able to squeeze enough money out of your flock to get that screen door fixed on your trailer home this year.

You may not understand now what I am going to say, which has to do with separation from, and separation of, family. But you very well will understand in your own time. The illegal aliens who are now so demanding, and who are now being given their demands. and for that reason will now demand much, much more - indeed everything, from you - they talk about how those who want to have the most basic laws, perhaps people like you who want the most basic laws because you want to protect your family, well, people like you are told...

My Wife does volunteer work for an Elementary school in the a city in the San Francisco Bay Area, California. She is on site counsels and committees. She knows all the students, and in fact many if not most, know, and love her. The Principal and school officials are always calling her, and taking advantage of her social conscious and intelligence, and her excellence with children. I have a child who attends that school. Today I receive a phone call from my wife. The cell is ringing, I think it's work related. A quick look at the incoming id, it’s...

Dear Mr. Robinson and Fellow Freepers, Moderating for FR may indeed be a "thankless" job, and in general I appreciate the job they've done over the years, but... In recent days I have been suspended twice -- once for posting to a certain well-known Freeper who has obviously been given preferential treatment by FR's Moderators; another for supposedly mentioning that same "elite" Freeper in posts to others. I'm not the only one this particular complaining Freeper has demanded he NOT be posted to -- though he often posts long rambling controversial rants and vanities about which he expects and savors...

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. -- The band teacher at Switzerland Point Middle School who is accused of taking inappropriate photos of students turned himself in Monday. A warrant was issued late Friday charging Gerald DeJoseph, 54, with five counts of video voyeurism. According to the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office, DeJoseph secretly took digital photographs underneath the dresses and skirts of girls while they played their instruments in his private office. Investigators said they have reviewed more than 100 photographs allegedly taken by DeJoseph. When the arrest warrant was issued late Friday, an attorney called authorities to say DeJoseph was out...

On this day, Marvh 8th, 2006, George W. Bush was winged by his own political party. He is now a "lame duck" even though Dick Cheney was by his side with trusty shot gun.Mr. Bush was winged by members of his party who did not honor a 45 day period for Mr. Bush to jawbone the Dubai ports deal. Eager to get a favorable line in their campaign literature, his party pulled the trigger early and killed the deal and winged BushMr. Bush is survived by weak republicans who have now fully ceded the bully pulpit to the DIMs.A memorial...

Dear Jonathan (Garthwaite): I am writing to submit my letter of resignation as a regular columnist for your conservative website. My decision comes in response to the following letter, submitted by a professor in my department to all the other professors in my department (myself excluded): … When Adams puts his place of employment and his job description at the bottom of his (Townhall.com) articles, he is drawing on his professional reputation and the reputation of this university (UNC-Wilmington) to convince readers of his argument. If I was [sic] his employer (Chancellor Rosemary DePaolo), I would interpret the below article...

We surrendered to Al Qaeda and we surrendered to our fears because we are afraid that our processes, our people working in these ports, our government and our ally will all fail. We lost confidence that we can stop Al Qaeda without compromising what we are as a people. Well, some of us have not surrendered. But most have. Fear is the mind killer. We are lashing out at shadows in our minds and insulting a people who have risked their lives to be our allies in the Middle East, and who have provided us safe passage to where we...

This post will probably get pulled, but, I honestly want to know what has happened to Free Republic. In breaking news, some of it will stay there for weeks when it's old news. I used to check here first because you could count on Free Republic having the most "up to date" news than anyone on the net. Now, it's just like some of the other sites where you don't know if what you're reading is today or two weeks ago. Even the quick links at the top are outdated. You can go ahead and get mad but it's still...

There's no helping you. This site is now just a diversion -- like a train wreck. This site is inherently for and about raving egomaniacs, and Jim's site policies -- which amount to excluding reality and actual dialogue in favor of political/militaristic pornography -- is conducive to cognitive dissonance, which at the times your worldview is threatened leads you into psychotic breaks (on the political cognitive plane, that is, and just maybe in other realms too). Not to mention that your baseline politics is based in mythology about American demographics, science, economics, ethics etc. You spoonfeed each other in the...

I guess I'm the only one that ever wanted to get cancelled but can't. I forgot the S/N and password that logs poweqi on here.

It's been a while since I've been here and I forgot my previous name, so I signed up again to post this.

I don't think I'll be back here again. I have nothing against anyone, but there hardly seems to be a point. I've come to realize that concepts like "freedom" and "conservatism" are just illusions -- pipe dreams. The reality is that if you live in Outer Moogooland, then you need to elect somebody who will help Outer Moogooland. Better yet, elect somebody you can count on to help you personally.

It's wintertime and the king penguins at a zoo in northern Japan are putting on weight. But the keepers there have a solution: exercise. Authorities at Asahiyama Zoo are taking the penguins on 500-yard walks on the snowy grounds twice a day, said zoo spokesman Tetsuo Yamazaki. "Just like in humans ... the fat accumulates during the winter months, and the blood-sugar level rises," Yamazaki explained from the zoo, 570 miles northwest of Tokyo. The zoo's 15 king penguins aren't exactly obese. Penguin winter weight varies from 33 pounds to 40 pounds, said zoo official Kazunobu Maru. So far, only...

A few days ago, after I created a thread expressing my disappointment in the selection of Harriet Miers for the Supreme Court, a fellow FReeper asked me if there would be an “Opus” coming from me in the near future, to which I expressed bewilderment. Obviously that FReeper understood how things work here better than I do. This is NOT an ‘Opus’ as some might call it, but a final opportunity to share a few thoughts and feelings with some of you who have welcomed and befriended me before I say a final goodbye. I hope this won’t be seen...

I offer up my feeble rant here, quite possibly my FR swansong. I've had it w/ W. This supreme court selection is the last straw. He's got no balls. None of our Republican so called "leaders" has any. I'm also tired of seeing that fake little smile of Tom Delay on TV. Neither of these guys have any idea what a working class conservative guy goes through out here in the trenches. W's supreme court pick may be the next thing since sliced bread, but she's 60 years old! UNINSPIRING to the MAX. A Squandered opportunity. Cronyism at its best....

God. I listen to Michael Medved and Dennis Prager because of the open debate...but I can't find an internet forum of the like. Does anyone have a site that would satisfy me? I love FR, but debate is not the thing here. Certainly not on DU. I learn from debate...Not, R or D, but am open minded and would appreciate a link.

After many years as a Freeper, I bid you adieu. The New Orleans disaster, in my home town, has turned the owners of this web site into a girly man. I'm done. Robb can pander to the looters and the scum. Frank King, Soliton
