Top 40 radio station KDWB-FM in the Twin Cities has apologized for an on-air comedy skit called "Muslim Jeopardy." The skit included an announcer using a fake South Asia accent introducing contest categories such as "infamous infidels" and "potent portables," according to the Washington-based Council on American-Islamic Relations, which said it had received complaints about the skit. The skit also included a threat to behead a female host when she got an answer wrong, CAIR said.

...I doubt anyone (including Indians or the ACLU) would have a problem if Snyder renamed the 'Skins the "Washington Honkeys." In fact, the "Fighting Whites" were an intramural basketball team formed at the University of Northern Colorado in 2002. The team was formed as a sort of payback to all the teams across the country who use Indian names and symbols as mascots...

THE Federal Government is ready to fend off any outcry over its use of the term "bloody hell" in a new international ad campaign targeting foreign visitors. The $180 million campaign, unveiled today by Tourism Minister Fran Bailey, seeks to lure international travellers Down Under by posing the question: "Where the bloody hell are you?" The question follows a sequence of footage in which everyday Australians are shown saying: "We've poured you a beer, we've shampooed the camel, we've got the 'roos off the green, we've got the sharks out of the pool and we've saved you a spot on...

Professor, University of North Carolina at Wilmington Dear David (pseudonym): Thanks so much for writing www.DrAdams.org for assistance with your free speech problem. Sadly, you were the fourth college student to write yesterday with a claim that your university is attempting to nullify your speech because it made someone feel “uncomfortable.” As I understand it, on Friday, September 23, you were asked by the Office of Residential Life to remove a poster you made and later displayed facing the quad at your school in Illinois. At a very liberal school, I know that you constantly have to put up with...

WASHINGTON - Vice President Dick Cheney says he's offended by a human rights group's report criticizing conditions at the prison camp for terror suspects at Guantanamo Bay. The report Amnesty International released last week said prisoners at the U.S. Navy base in Cuba had been mistreated and called for the prison to be shut down. Cheney derided the London-based group in an interview set to be broadcast Monday night on CNN's "Larry King Live." "Frankly, I was offended by it," Cheney said in the videotaped interview. "For Amnesty International to suggest that somehow the United States is a violator of...

Christmas is over - well nearly, it ends tomorrow on Jan 5th (Twelth Night) and this Christmas season we have seen an unprecedented attempt to stamp it out by the secularists and the left wing loonies. People have been cowered into not saying "Merry Christsmas" for fear of offending minorities who don't celebrate Christmas, so the question I ask is - why is no one offended by "Happy New Year"? A fifth of the world's population are Chinese -it's not their New Year! There are more Jews in in New York than in Israel -it's not their New Year either!...

Market Madness A city councilman in Lancaster County, Pa., wants a local merchant to remove a photo of George W. Bush from a stall in a local market because the image is offensive to local Democrats, reports the Lancaster New Era. David Stoltzfus has had the president’s image hanging in his Central Market baked-goods stand for a couple years now. He says it is there to honor the office of president. But City Councilman Nelson Polite wants the picture down. He says political paraphernalia has no business on public property. Besides, says the Democrat: "Bush didn’t win here [in Lancaster...

Commentators on our country explain our blue-red division in many ways -- liberal-conservative; secular-religious; North-South; coasts-heartland; singles-married with children. I propose one more explanation: the easily offended-the not so easily offended. With the acknowledgment that there are many individual exceptions, a major defining characteristic of modern-day liberalism is the ease with which liberals take offense personally and/or on behalf of others. Liberals regularly portray as offended women, African Americans, Jews, American Indians, gays and every other group liberals declare a minority, i.e., any group that votes Democrat -- no group that votes Republican, such as Mormons, Cuban Americans and Vietnamese...

Allegations of cultural insensitivity and incompetence within the University College of Education have led the school's student and faculty diversity committee to recently declare a "multicultural crisis." Graduate student Jim Lyda, coordinator of the college's Ethnic Diversity Affairs Committee, said students of color in the college have experienced cultural insensitivity from some faculty members. He said local schools also have raised concerns that the college produces teachers who lack multicultural skills. "That's kind of what we term a crisis," Lyda said. The committee, which advocates for students of color in the college, proposed a list of recommendations to the deans...

Being offended is a substitute for thinking http://www.jewishworldreview.com -- BEING OFFENDED means never having to answer an argument. The conversation went something like this. Caller: "I want you to know your column on drug legalization offended me." Me: "Let me get this straight. Because I said drugs are soul-deadening and far too lethal to legalize, you were offended?" Caller: "That's right. It made me want to hurl." Charming, the way these Gen-Xers express themselves. I don't hear this more than a few dozen times a week: "I'm offended." "I'm deeply offended." "I was really offended." "I found your column very...

Penn State Young Americans for Freedom (PS-YAF), the self-proclaimed "nuclear bomb of the conservative movement," is distributing fliers this week saying students' First Amendment rights are at risk. The organization questions the constitutional validity of the Tolerance and Equality Committee (TEC) recently created by the Undergraduate Student Government (USG) Senate, said Sean Clark, PS-YAF chairman. "It looks like [the TEC] is going to be a blatant infringement on student organizations', students', and faculty's rights to free speech," Clark said. The fliers refer to the TEC as a "fascist committee," and call some USG Senators "tyrants-in-training." The TEC's guidelines state that...
