[history]
Activists on Friday asked the Internet auction site eBay to stop listing items they say are racially offensive and demeaning to blacks.
The Southern California groups said eBay is violating its own policy that discourages sellers from listing items that promote racial intolerance.

Yep, Huck Finn, and also all that disgustingly offensive 'hip-hop'. Although I don't think "the n word" is considered offensive if a black person uses it.

My impression from shows like "Antiques Roadshow" is that the main purchasers of old racist items, slavery memorabilia, etc. are black, interestingly.

Yes. ...And now I insist that the Saltine and Ritz people stop calling their wheat, rye, and barley products "CRACKERS". I find this term very offensive. (NOT!!)

Some African-Americans collect this stuff.

I seem to recall that most people who collect so called "Black Americana" are themselves black.
Any eBay wizards out there know about that?

Is this author saying that Negro League baseball items are racist collectibles? Quite a few of those old baseball players die every couple of months. Signing autographs and recounting the old games is a way for them to make money in their old age. Some made it to "major league" baseball, and some did not. The team logos weren't racist.

I should have seen it comming. I've been trading war era LIFE Magazines and I've noticed there is a warining about Nazi immages. I don't think they can be sold in Europe.

"This is what they think of us," said Earl Ofari Hutchinson, president of the Inglewood, Calif.-based National Alliance for Positive Action, a public advocacy group for racial and social justice. "This shows the absolute utter contempt many in the society still have for African-Americans even today." What's racist is a stupid POS not feeling the least embarrassment about making sweeping, public statements about what "they" (ie, white Americans) think, based on ephemera made decades ago.

Looks like we are going to get a replay of the Iconoclast Wars that resulted in the deaths of so many 1600 years ago.
Or is this medieval Moslem warlords crushing depictions of human forms?

I don't think I ever knew what the word "honkey" meant, nor its origin. ...I can honestly say though,...it never bothered me to be called that. I thought it rather funny.

I agree....it's always the entire white race to blame.
