  • Vanity - Mike Gallagher's Pro-Lindsey Graham Rant

On other threads recently, the faux-conservative bone fides of Hugh Hewitt and Michael Medved have been sharply questioned in light of recent events. I'm wondering whether Mike Gallagher needs to be added to that list. I can pick up three "Conservative Talk Radio" stations on my way to and from work, but I seldom listen to one of them because it features lightweights. My wife borrowed my truck yesterday, and must have been playing with the dials, because it was tuned to that third station when I got in this morning. Some guy - I couldn't place him at first,...

Dear Mitt Romney Sellouts:I’m ready to sell out, too. Like you, I’m ready to abandon my conservative principles, ignore Mitt’s big-government legacy and his obvious disdain for the right — if it means a guaranteed winner in November. But before I lift my conservative skirts for another H.W. Bush/Dole/McCain moderate because I’m supposed to suck it up and “back a winner,” is it asking too much to expect the guy to, you know, win something first?I get politics. I used to run campaigns. In fact, I ran a GOP primary in South Carolina against Strom Thurmond. Not only did I know...
  • Romney charity used for conservative donations {read political donations]

In the Republican primary struggle to define the most reliably conservative presidential candidate, Mitt Romney has put his money where his mouth is. Over the past six years and two presidential campaigns, Romney has donated at least $260,000 from his family charity foundation to GOP causes and influential conservative groups that could deepen his ties within the party and establish his credibility on the right. Romney's campaign said there was no hidden motivation behind his contributions.-SNIP-.....the Romney campaign is studded with former Bush political veterans and appears to lead its rivals in financial support from former Bush fundraisers.-SNIP-...Romney gave...

Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney (R) backed the plan for GM and Chrysler put forth yesterday by President Obama, the candidate Romney may face in the 2012 presidential election. "I think a lot of people expected the president just to cave, write a check, and just hope for the better," Romney said Tuesday morning on CNN. "I think he's expressing some backbone on this." Romney grew up in Michigan, where his father was governor and, at one time, chairman of a now-defunct auto company. The former 2008 presidential candidate, though, was also sure to tout his own calls for bankruptcy...

Dear Mr. President, Please defend our borders! Ask Congress to make English the solitary official language, and then sign the bill! Help us to maintain the distinctive American culture! Legal immigration: yes! Say "No!" to open borders, illegal aliens, globalism and the America-Mexico-Canada-NannyState!

  • 2006 Giuliani will have edge over both McCain and Clinton, and Senate Dems will struggle

The latest Rasmussen poll shows a three way race between Rudy Giuliani (26%), Condoleezza Rice (24%), and John McCain (21%). I think these numbers are somewhat striking in that Rice, who to date has shown no interest in running, is actually outpacing McCain. This is not good news for those preparing to board the “Straight Talk Express,” and really brings to light a deep resentment in the “Bush wing” of the Republican Party towards McCain’s well earned reputation as a maverick. Going Native for 2004 By DAVID BROOKS To: Tom DeLay From: A Concerned Conservative Dear Tom, This week I read that you have abandoned plans to house Republicans safely on a cruise ship off the island of Manhattan during the G.O.P. convention in New York this summer. Have you paused to consider what this will mean? It will mean that instead of spending time in a secure environment offshore, kind, decent Republicans will be wandering innocently among packs of inflamed New York liberals. They'll be subjected to long harangues that rely heavily on the words "multilateral," "Kyoto" and "John...
