The world is on fire. The devastating wildfires in Maui have led to at least 99 deaths with many hundreds more people unaccounted for and injured. We have seen homes and livelihoods destroyed and hospitals overwhelmed with smoke and burn victims. These wildfires, fanned by winds from Hurricane Dora after years of drought, have undoubtedly been made worse by climate change. We need to wake up to the fact that climate change is driving a vicious cycle of extreme weather conditions that are killing people. Without a doubt, the climate crisis is also a health crisis. We must start reducing...

President Joe Biden, while speaking about the devastating wildfires in Hawaii, appeared to momentarily forget the name of Maui

“I’m already thinking of ways for the state to acquire that land so that we can put it into workforce housing, to put it back into families, or make it open spaces in perpetuity as a memorial to the people who were lost,” Green commented amid the ruins. “We want this to be something we remember after the pain passes as a magic place. Lahaina will rebuild. The tragedy right now is the loss of life. The buildings can be rebuilt over time, even the banyan tree may survive, but we don’t want this to become a clear space where...

President Joe Biden flew directly over East Palestine, Ohio, on Tuesday after he promised in March to visit the working-class town impacted by the deadly February train derailment. Biden’s flight path on Air Force One while heading to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, for an event touting “Bidenomics,” his economic agenda, flew nearly right over East Palestine. A freight train carrying toxic chemicals derailed in East Palestine, which wreaked havoc on the working-class town.

President Joe Biden announced Monday that survivors of the Maui fires would receive “a one-time $700 payment per household,” after he faced criticism for telling a reporter he had “no comment” on the rising death toll. His account posted: “We’re laser-focused on getting aid to survivors, including Critical Needs Assistance: a one-time $700 payment per household offering relief during an unimaginably difficult time.”The one-time payment of $700 per household is less than the estimated cost to each American household for the Ukraine War, according to a budget expert at the Heritage Foundation.Richard Stern, director of The Heritage Foundation’s Grover M. Hermann...

Former President Obama on Tuesday highlighted several organizations providing relief to Maui residents in the wake of last week’s deadly wildfires as he urged people to donate to recovery efforts on the island. “If you’re looking for more ways to support folks in Lāhainā and on Maui, I hope you’ll consider donating to these local organizations that are providing direct support on the ground,” Obama said in a post on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter.

With wildfires ravaging West Maui on Aug. 8, a state water official delayed the release of water that landowners wanted to help protect their property from fires. The water standoff played out over much of the day and the water didn’t come until too late. The dispute involved the Department of Land and Natural Resources’ water resource management division. DLNR delayed releasing water requested by West Maui Land Co. to help prevent the spread of fire, sources familiar with the situation said. Specifically, according to accounts of four people with knowledge of the situation, M. Kaleo Manuel, a Native Hawaiian...

Joe Biden was asked for comment on the rising death toll from the Maui fires as he smirked and shuffled along without answering questions. “Do you have a comment on the death toll?” a reporter Biden on the South Lawn. No response! Watch.....VIDEO AT LINK..................... As of Tuesday, at least 99 people are confirmed dead in Maui as a result of the fires. There are still 1000 people who are unaccounted for. President Biden on Tuesday said he and first lady Jill Biden would visit Hawaii though gave no timeline to do so amid criticism he has faced over his response to wildfires that have devastated the island of Maui. “My wife Jill and I are going to travel to Hawaii as soon as we can. That’s what I’ve been talking to the governor about, I don’t want to get in the way. I’ve been to too many disaster areas,” Biden said at the top of remarks on the Inflation Reduction Act in Wisconsin.

With only a quarter of the Maui wildfire burn area searched, the death toll of what’s already the deadliest US wildfire in more than a century still could rise significantly, Hawaii authorities said Monday. At least 99 people have been confirmed dead from the wildfires, and the number could double over the next 10 days, Hawaii Gov. Josh Green told CNN Monday.

Survivors of the Maui fire say that they received no warning and that the flames appeared so quickly that escape was difficult. Everything was suddenly in flames and many found refuge in the ocean for hours while their homes burned to the ground and into the same powdery ash footprint we’ve seen in recent years. So far, it is estimated that nearly a thousand people have died. Locals are worried this includes hundreds of children who were home due to school being canceled that day. Several people are reporting that the government is not only doing little to help but...

The difference between Joe Biden’s geriatric sloth and President Trump’s tireless, unrelenting work ethic couldn’t be more glaring than it is right now. While Hawaii is crying out for help in the midst of perhaps the most devastating natural disaster in the state’s history, Biden is nowhere to be seen. By contrast, President Trump proves once again he’s the man Hawaii – and America – desperately needs. The apocalyptic wildfires that engulfed Hawaii have destroyed entire cities, including the historic town of Lahaina. The damage in Maui is estimated at approximately $6 billion. Most chilling, the death toll, currently at...

Leadership like no other. Thank you President Trump, for responding to the Maui tragedy with respect and compassion. This was a perfect Presidential response. The people of Maui, I'm sure appreciate your kind and thoughtful words during this enormous tragedy.

Hey, life’s a beach, man. President Biden lounged Sunday on Rehoboth Beach while the town of Lahaina on the island of Maui was still smoking, with photos of the once-idyllic paradise showing a charred wasteland. The grim images, the unfathomable loss of life, the haunting, sickening knowledge the news would only worsen as the days passed: It would have brought any stoic to tears. But not beach bum Biden. Ol’ Joe was busy relaxing in his lounge chair for hours getting some vitamin D and living out one of those cheesy “Beach life” mottos you see painted on driftwood.

On August 8, 2023, In the United States District Court for the District of Hawaii, Judge Leslie E. Kobayashi issued a temporary restraining order (TRO) in the case of Wolford v. Lopez. The case was filed on June 23, 2023, and has been written about previously on AmmoLand. The plaintiffs asked for a TRO for five of fifteen so-called “sensitive places” in the new Hawaii law. Judge Kobayashi issued the TRO for most of the places asked for by the plaintiffs, with some exceptions. Whether the other places which are labeled as “sensitive places” in the law will be upheld by...

Desperate survivors in Lahaina are robbing people at gunpoint as they wait for food and shelter in the aftermath of the Maui wildfires, Hawaiian locals said. "There's some police presence. There's some small military presence, but at night people are being robbed at gunpoint," co-owner of a Lāhainā bar called The Dirty Monkey, Matt Robb, told Business Insider. Robb added: "People are raped and pillaged. I mean, they're going through houses - and then by day it's hunky-dory. So where is the support? I don't think our government and our leaders, at this point, know how to handle this or...

Power and cellular outages for residents further stymied communication efforts. Radio reports were scarce, some survivors reported, even as the blaze began to consume the town. Road blocks then forced fleeing drivers onto one narrow downtown street, creating a bottleneck that was quickly surrounded by flames on all sides. At least 67 people have been confirmed dead so far. The silent sirens have raised questions about whether everything was done to alert the public in a state that possesses an elaborate emergency warning system for a variety of dangers including wars, volcanoes, hurricanes and wildfires. Hector Bermudez left his apartment...

The catastrophic wildfires on Maui have spurred many to speculate on what caused such a tragedy on an otherwise lush tropical island. And, of course, many in the climate cult are simply closing their eyes, covering their ears, and shouting that climate change is the cause of this tragedy, and that everyone of us with our use of fossil fuels is personally to blame. As of this writing, at least 93 are dead and the community of Lahaina lies in smoldering ruins as firefighters struggle to contain blazes on the island. People have been stunned to hear about a wildfire,...

In the post Nicks detailed how her niece and family had planned a 'much needed' vacation at her home close to Lahaina, but had been forced to flee after the fire started 'a day and a half' into their trip.
