SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – It’s an unusual sight to see in downtown Sacramento with the California National Guard set up for the next several days ahead of any potential unrest. Tanks and troops are scattered all around the area to protect government buildings. “I’ve never seen the Capitol with this level of security before,” said Timothy Dellavan. To him, the number of military mixed in among the ordinary was significant. Saturday was the first day 1,000 California national guardsmen deployed around the capital city. “It feels weird, it’s definitely uncommon,” said Mike Juliano, who walked around the downtown area in awe.

The Barents Observer has for years studied satellite images of the Northern Fleet’s bases along the coast to the Barents Sea. Here are a few examples of what has happened in the course of the last eight years. But first, let’s jump back in the timeline: KREMLIN, MAY 7, 2012: The doors open and version 3.0 of Vladimir Putin enters St. Andrew’s Hall in the Grand Kremlin Palace in Moscow to be sworn in as president in a ceremony so overwhelming that thoughts went back to czarist Russia. Union City’s mayor and other officials condemned a “White Lives Matter” banner found Saturday morning at a city intersection. City officials called the incident — which happened the weekend before the Martin Luther King, Jr., holiday and 10 days after the pro-Trump mob stormed the U.S. Capitol — racist. The banner was found “illegally placed” on the corner of Smith and Dyer streets and removed on Saturday morning, city officials said. A police report was filed, but Union City police could not be reached for comment on Saturday. “The city is disgusted by this despicable act of vandalism that has...

A left-wing hacker claims to have archived all of Parlerâs deleted posts and says they provide âvery incriminatingâ evidence in the wake of the deadly mob attack at the US Capitol, Daily Mail reports. People need to go through some of these left-wing sites and doxx them. They write some really awful stuff, but the media would probably say they donât really mean it. Twitter user @donk_enby has announced in a number of Twitter posts that s/he has captured data and videos from Parler, âcomplete with GPS metadata to show exactly where they were taken.â That could prove helpful for...

The nations quickest to enact social distancing and contact-tracing systems have mostly kept COVID-19 in check, but their citizens now find themselves lagging in receiving the shots needed to finally end a pandemic that has devastated millions of lives. Governments from Japan and Australia to Hong Kong and South Korea are taking their time before granting regulatory approvals for vaccines, in stark contrast to the Western nations that have rushed to inoculate populations. That cautious approach may seem strange given the urgency to resume normal life, but low infection rates mean that Asian governments are able to wait to see...

Lori Vinson, of Morganfield, Kentucky, told WFIE she’s glad she attended the Jan. 6 riot because it’s a moment she’ll remember 30 years from now. “People have asked, ‘Are you sorry you’ve done that?’” Vinson said. “Absolutely I am not. A series of leaked screenshots purportedly from BLM activist and Insurrection USA founder John Sullivan’s Discord server have been leaked. In the screenshots, the radically far left activists admit they wore Trump hats and other MAGA gear as subterfuge, and admit that the police willingly let them enter the deified halls of the U.S. Capitol. The screenshots, found and compiled by a conservative Twitter user, show the leftist rioters planning their invasion of the sanctified grounds of the Capitol, discussing how they will wear pro-Trump camouflage, and most strikingly, admitting how the police enthusiastically let them proceed past barrier after barrier...

Gladnick January 16th, 2021 3:30 PM “On the heels of Forbes magazine editor Randall Lane threatening companies that hire Trump officials, we now have that periodical politically cleansing its own website of an article critical of their beloved social media monopolist that also engages in cracking down on free speech. Such was the case on Monday when Forbes deleted an article by frequent contributor, Jim Collins, that dared to strongly criticize Twitter which is now obviously a prohibited activity.

New standards proposed by the Minnesota Department of Education would banish lessons about World War I, World War II, the Holocaust, the Civil War, the American Revolution, communism, George Washington and Thomas Jefferson. Replacing those significant history topics will be "systemic racism," how democracy has "excluded certain groups," an "awareness" of "the LGBTQ+ community" and how the disenfranchisement of freed blacks during Reconstruction connects to "persistent discrimination and inequity" today.

Xcel Energy wants to stop buying electricity from the world’s largest high-concentration solar energy plant, located in the San Luis Valley, and it will pay $41 million to the federal government to do it. The utility company has been purchasing power from the 30-megawatt solar plant in southern Colorado since 2012, when the federally backed project was one of the first of its kind and the largest using the technology anywhere.
