New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy (D) is “retightening” coronavirus restrictions, limiting indoor and outdoor gatherings as cases spike in the Garden State. Murphy announced an executive order “retightening” restrictions on gatherings, specifically. The order will limit indoor gatherings to ten individuals and outdoor gatherings to 150 people. The coronavirus pandemic is roaring back in New Jersey as officials revealed Thursday that the Garden State has seen more than 10,000 new cases since Monday and that a frightening 12 percent of tests are coming back positive. Gov. Phil Murphy also reported on Twitter that hospitalizations in the Garden State have reached levels not seen since the first wave of the pandemic began to recede in June, with more than 1,800 patients in hospitals — including 360 in intensive care. “We have to get back to the mindset that saw us crush the

A few years ago, Glenn Reynolds wrote a salient piece for USA Today: If you tax it too much, they will go. Here’s another case in point. New Jersey is set to impose a tax on financial transactions that occur online in the state. The NASDAQ processes more than half a million trades per day. Its servers happen to be in New Jersey. If each transaction is taxed at a quarter of a penny apiece, the costs will add up quickly. $10 billion per year, in fact, is what New Jersey expects to haul in. That has the exchange considering...

Many knew that we would not have immediate election results to determine who the next president of the United States would be. Now, four days later, we have just received a final determination, however, the amount of illegal activity surrounding the votes and the counting of the ballots is astronomical. Many GOP leaders have been staying tight-lipped about all of it, and it is not going unnoticed. As President Trump and his team are laying the framework for a historic legal battle over the extreme bias and down right unlawful compromise of the election system, the “deafening” silence from key...

Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, an ally of President Trump, blasted the commander-in-chief’s comments about claiming victory and threatening to ask the Supreme Court to halt more vote-counting. Christie said there is no evidence to back Trump’s claim that Democrats are trying to fraudulently steal the election away from him. “I talk tonight not as a former governor, but as a former US attorney. There’s just no basis to make that argument tonight. There just isn’t,” Christie told ABC News.

The Second Amendment Foundation, Firearms Policy Coalition, New Jersey Second Amendment Society and two private citizens, Stanley Bennett and Michael Hucker, have filed a federal lawsuit challenging New Jersey’s restrictive laws on concealed carry in a case that might put the issue before the U.S. Supreme Court. The Garden State is one of the most difficult in the nation to obtain a carry permit. Known as Bennett v. Davis, this case could provide the high court with an opportunity to define the right “to bear arms” part of the Second Amendment. The court has already ruled the right to keep...

As voters head to the polls to select the next president, citizens of five states will decide whether to legalize medical or recreational marijuana. Chris Christie, the former New Jersey governor, on Thursday became the latest Republican politician to be fooled into making a campaign video on behalf of a Democrat. Mr. Christie is one of many of Mr. Trump’s current and former associates available for hire on Cameo, an app that allows users to commission personalized videos from minor — and increasingly major — celebrities. The video, which cost $200, was framed as a jovial message to a person named Greg, who Mr. Christie was prompted to encourage to return to New Jersey, Greg’s former home. Persistent use of methamphetamine is the single biggest risk factor for HIV seroconversion among gay and bisexual men, according to a new study published in the Journal of Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndromes. Using subjects from across the U.S., including Puerto Rico and Guam, researchers found that over 12 months of follow-up, 14% of study participants reported using meth, and 2.5% tested positive for HIV (115 new infections). More than a third of study participants (36%) seroconverting for HIV were persistent users of methamphetamine.
