The coronavirus pandemic is roaring back in New Jersey as officials revealed Thursday that the Garden State has seen more than 10,000 new cases since Monday and that a frightening 12 percent of tests are coming back positive.
Gov. Phil Murphy also reported on Twitter that hospitalizations in the Garden State have reached levels not seen since the first wave of the pandemic began to recede in June, with more than 1,800 patients in hospitals — including 360 in intensive care.

I have a feeling that what’s going on with these new edicts that sound exactly like the old edicts in March is the Democrats heard all that cynical talk along the lines of, “Oh, sure. You watch. After the election, all this crap will stop” and they feel like they have to keep the FEAR going awhile longer as a result to make things look on the up-and-up.
There is no more flu season - now it’s COVID all the way!!
They have been through the worst already.
The high positivity rate is probably because so many have already been exposed, they likely are detecting “herd immunity”.
Now, Wisconsin and Minnesota are getting their “first wave”
Wisconsin has had an up-tick in cases, too - but they’re reporting it as The End of the World.
Yes, more people are testing positive. We now have more accurate tests and more of us ARE being tested.
Yes, people ARE going to the hospital versus recovering at home - but more people are not DYING from this. It’s still 99% recoverable unless you’re that pour schmuck with diabetes, you’re obese or you’re old.
I’m having a real hard time believing anything the Enemy Media WANTS me to believe.
What is the DATE of these cases?
Too often they are 1-2 months old and just now being tabulated.
How queer that the spikes in US and EUSSR are all happening at the same time even though different approaches were taken to stop the spread.

I haven’t been able to find hospital utilization rate info the NJ.
The state has chosen to make it very difficult to find.

BTW, bet NJ is doing the same thing NYS is doing and counting repeat positives of the same patient as a new case.
Working in healthcare I can tell you many hospitals are in fact overwhelmed. Some hospitals have suspended normal surgeries (hip replacements, etc.) in order to make room for COVID patients. The new challenge is hospital staff who are sick, leading to staffing shortages. If you have a heart attack today and make it to the hospital, your chance of dying is much higher than it was a month ago simply because the care you receive will be a lot slower because there isn’t enough staff.
Yes, and some colds can be nasty.
This is a good thing right? More positives, more people develop immunity.

How long since a large, recent, mass outing almost everywhere in the country? Oh, about a week. What a coincidence! How long since Slo Joe gave up masking and so did is Kool-Aid drinking sycophants? Oh, about a week. And so on. Surge makes perfect sense to me.
And old, fat, diabetic or otherwise vulnerable people make up 70% of the population. Wish you folks that think they are just useless eaters and clumps of cells would get off the retroactive abortion bandwagon. They are real people with potentially many years of life ahead of them and not yours to dispose of as inconvenient.
There is definitely a surge in Colorado. Hospitalizations are up fourfold, deaths are up, cases of course are up about 10 times what they were 3 months ago. No shortages of equipment or personnel yet.
So we can either say mortality rate is down or most cases are fake in which cases mortality rate is down less than we might think. Percentage of people on ventilators is up in hard numbers but down when calculated as a percentage of cases.
Mask orders have been in place since before this latest surge and apparently had no effect. This surge is is way larger than the first two. Actually, the first two wavelets look like little or nothing compared to the last 5 weeks.
The usual mass confusion in other words.
Notice nobody talks about death rate anymore - because it is infinitesimal.
“Positivity rate” means nothing - people get are getting tested when they get the sniffles - and if half the population wind up getting it - with zero or minor symptoms - wouldn’t that be a good thing? Herd immunity?

You know what is uncomfortable? Getting bacterial pneumonia from wearing a mask.
Having excruciating sinusitis aggravated by wearing a mask.
Not being able to breathe and having respiratory problems for days after wearing a F’N MASK.

You can’t control a virus and they damn well know it. They didn’t make it go away and the we didn’t make it return. States/countries who left it up to the people to make their own decisions DID THE BEST.
