The Beverly Hills City Council voted to repeal its moratorium on any elective surgeries, including cosmetic procedures and plastic surgeries. Members voted 4-1 to remove restrictions put in place by the state to ensure more beds for coronavirus patients and to prepare hospitals for a surge of cases. While doctors will have the authority to decide if a procedure is medically necessary, the vote means cosmetic surgeries will now be permitted in the city of Beverly Hills.

SIERRA VISTA - In World War I, women made and rolled bandages for Americans wounded in combat. In World War II, women knitted socks, to keep GIs' feet clean and comfortable. Now, a group of Sierra Vista women are sewing neck coolers for soldiers in hot Iraq and will be taking on knitting caps to keep them warm when the weather in that nation turns cold. "Women are awesome when they decide to do something," June Kennedy said Monday. It was the second Monday that a few women gathered in her house. The sounds of a sewing machine stitching a...

The skeleton of the pocket-sized dinosaur -- which was less than 10 meters (yards) long -- discovered in Patagonia goes against the grain of increased body size and neck length that typified sauropod dinosaurs. "The long neck is a particular hallmark of sauropod dinosaurs and is usually regarded as a key feeding adaptation," scientists from the Bavarian State Collection for Palaeontology and Geology in Munich wrote in the science journal Nature. They...

Howard and hillary   by Mia T, Independence Day, 2003     y introduction to Howard Dean was via the prototypic provincial "see ____ run" cinéma vérité political rally oxymoron that C-SPAN does so well. Howard quickly let it be known that he was less deft at these things than C-SPAN. With his first sentence, he managed to expose a level of injudiciousness and mediocrity and an unambiguous praetorian streak that, ironically, rivaled those of the object of his fatal attraction. Howard informed us -- quickly -- just in case we would get the wrong idea -- that he...
