The Washington National Cathedral issued a statement on Thursday announcing that it will be replacing historic stained glass windows that depict Confederate iconography with “woke” racial-justice themed windows that honor African Americans. There are 231 stained glass windows in the National Cathedral. The windows that are being replaced were were installed in 1953 and they were removed in 2017.
