A Tarrant County grand jury Monday declined to indict a volunteer security officer for a White Settlement church who fatally shot a man who killed two parishioners during a Sunday service. Jack Wilson fired one shot at Keith Thomas Kinnunen, stopping the 43-year-old gunman seconds after he pulled out a shotgun and shot Anton “Tony” Wallace, 64, and Richard White, 67, the morning of Dec. 29 at West Freeway Church of Christ. There were more than 250 people in the church at the time, officials said. Tim Rodgers, a prosecutor in the Tarrant County district attorney’s office, said in a...

Berkeley in northern California will ban the sale of junk food from supermarket checkout displays -- becoming the first US city to do so, according to local media. The city council unanimously passed a bill this week to promote healthier eating, by prohibiting products with over 5 grams of added sugar or 250mg of sodium from checkout aisles. Drinks high in sugar and artificial sweeteners will also be restricted. "The healthy checkout ordinance is essential for community health, especially in the time of COVID-19," said councilmember Kate Harrison. "What is good for Berkeley customers is also good for our businesses."

The Stone Roses singer joined the red pill-devouring ranks with a series of anti-lockdown missives. What is it with musicians and not believing the TRUTH?If I could be locked down in a house full of rock stars – the kind we’re always being offered to pick from on social media – it would contain Matt Bellamy, Tom DeLonge, B.o.B., George Clinton, and Jim Corr as the live-in landlord. We’re talking Conspiracy House. A mansion stuffed with alien watchers, kabbalah mystics and exposers of shadowy one-world power cartels. How brilliant would that be? Imagine the wild nights spent crushing up red...

... Kamala Harris strongly rebuked President Donald Trump for politicizing the issue of wearing a pandemic mask during an interview Sunday with CNN's Dana Bash. Harris, minutes earlier in the same interview, said she would be skeptical of a coronavirus vaccine distributed by the Trump administration but said a big part of the problem with pandemic response " is that we have a president of the United States who made this a partisan issue and made it a political issue." BASH: Would a Biden/Harris administration support a federal mask mandate? HARRIS: So it's about a national standard. Everyone should wear...

President Donald Trump hosted a campaign rally in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, the same night the Democratic National Convention was scheduled to kick off in Milwaukee. While Democrats instead opted for a virtual conference to avoid spreading the coronavirus, Trump drew a crowd of at least 1,000 people. In off-the-cuff remarks, Trump suggested to Republicans that if they wanted to win elections, they had to keep cannabis legalization off the ballot. Though the Trump Administration has attacked cannabis reform in behind-closed-doors proceedings and by blocking legislative action, this is the first time the President has made negative comments about cannabis in public....

Police in the Delaware city of Rehoboth Beach issued their first citation for not wearing a mask on the boardwalk against a Lancaster [PA] man. According to a statement from Rehoboth Beach Police Public Information Officer Lt. Jaime Riddle, Delaware has opened beaches and boardwalks as of May 22, but with the regulation that face masks are required to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Despite that, police encountered a “defiant lack of compliance” on Monday from a 56-year-old Lancaster man, Riddle said. Because the encounter was widely circulated on social media, the department received many requests for comment. Riddle explained...

The mayor of Minneapolis told individuals protesting that their anger is “understandable” and “right" but urged them to make sure they are wearing masks and practicing social distancing during their demonstrations. “The City encourages everyone to exercise caution to stay safe while participating in demonstrations, including wearing masks and physical distancing as much as possible to prevent the spread of COVID-19,” Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey’s office wrote in a statement addressed to individuals who took to the streets following the death of George Floyd while in police custody. “The City has made hundreds of masks available to protesters this week.”...

A 2016 study by Cornell University said people who were more afraid of germs were more likely to vote Republican. I’d say the current COVID-19 situation proves the exact opposite. In 2016, the Los Angeles Times wrote:A Cornell University team led by psychologists David Pizarro and Yoel Inbar conducted an online disgust-sensitivity survey of 25,000 Americans during the 2008 U.S. presidential election. Respondents with the highest contagion-anxiety scores were the most likely to indicate that they would vote for Republican nominee Sen. John McCain, the more conservative candidate, over Democrat Barack Obama. However, with the current COVID-19 situation, it’s generally Democrats, not...

Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti announced Wednesday that Angelenos must wear masks any time they leave their home. Anyone except for small children and people with disabilities will have to wear a facial covering when they are near others who don’t live in their home, he said. Previously, masks were only required in businesses and on public transportation. “Bring your masks with you whenever you leave your home. That will help us get more freedoms,” he said. Garcetti also announced that all retail locations in the city can now open for curbside and doorside pickup or delivery. Businesses are not...

Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer said Wednesday that the protests in the state's capital city against state measures meant to limit the spread of the coronavirus make it more likely that the state will have to keep restrictions in place longer. Appearing Monday on ABC's "The View," Whitmer, a Democrat, was asked about the pushback against her administration's coronavirus restrictions. There have been multiple protests in the state's capital city of Lansing in the past few weeks, including one late last month that saw protesters -- some of them armed -- entering the state Capitol, screaming at law enforcement officers and...

Landlords would receive a tax credit dependent on committing to not evict tenants. “This is not a giveaway,” Democratic state Sen. Steven Bradford said, according to The Associated Press. Danny DeVito, a candidate in the 45th District of Pennsylvania, has called for the simultaneous impeachment of Governor Wolf and Lieutenant Governor Fetterman for their malicious handling of the COVID-19 crisis. President Trump has also added impetus to the revolt by Tweeting: “The great people of Pennsylvania want their freedom now, and they are fully aware of what that entails. The Democrats are moving slowly, all over the USA, for political purposes. They would wait until November 3rd if it were up to them. Don’t play...

Los Angeles County residents can expect to remain under some type of “Safer At Home” restrictions well into the summer barring any major change in the fight against the coronavirus, the county’s public health director said Tuesday. Public Health Director Barbara Ferrer made the suggestion during a Board of Supervisors meeting Tuesday, saying some form of stay-at-home restrictions will likely remain in place “for the next three months”. “There’s now no way, unless there was a dramatic change in … this virus and the tools that we have at hand to actually fight against this virus, there’s no way that...

SACRAMENTO, California, May 11, 2020 (LifeSiteNews) – Hundreds of pastors in California have announced plans to defy Democratic Governor Gavin Newsom’s executive orders deeming religious gatherings nonessential. In an open letter to the Governor, dated May 7, they “declared their intent to begin holding in-person church services beginning on Sunday, May 31, 2020.” In their letter, the pastors lamented “a very long list of ‘secular’ exceptions” from the stay-at-home orders in place in the Golden State. “The exempted persons and facilities include most governmental operations,” they wrote. “The list also includes, among other locations: airports; public transportation facilities (i.e. train...
