Rejoice gaming fans, for the latest new “feature” of Blizzard Entertainment’s smash hit multi-player online videogame World of Warcraft is here! No, it’s not a new Sword of Destruction or Staff of Power—it’s spyware! Yes, unbeknownst to many gamers, World of Warcraft now has an unwanted special feature—a hidden program called “Warden” that snoops gamers’ computers looking for any "unauthorized third-party program" that “enables or facilitates cheating of any type.” According to Greg Hoglund, co-author of "Exploiting Software, How to Break Code," this hidden program opens every process on a gamer’s computer, from email programs to privacy managers, and sniffs...

THEY are called echizen kurage and they sound like monsters from the trashier reaches of Japanese science fiction. They are 6ft wide and weigh 450lb (200kg), with countless poisonous tentacles, they have drifted across the void to terrorise the people of Japan. Vast armadas of the slimy horrors have cut off the country’s food supply. As soon as one is killed more appear to take its place. Finally, the quarrelsome governments of the region are banding together to unite against the enemy. Echizen kurage is not an extraterrestrial invader, but a giant jellyfish that is devastating the livelihoods of...

He may look like an innocent cartoon bunny, but the star of a new award-winning video game by a Montreal-based designer has sultry intentions in mind. Lapis, the blue-hued main character of a prototype video game by Heather Kelley, a designer with Ubisoft, wants to help women take a "magical pet adventure'' to their "happy place.'' The prototype teaches how to reach orgasm by simulating the affect of pleasurable sensation on the cartoon. Players tickle, touch, tap, and stroke Lapis using the touch screen of the Nintendo DS, a hand-held video game device. They can also talk, sing and blow...

Founder of veganism whose dietary crusade grew to attract a quarter of a million adherents in Britain today DONALD WATSON survived to the age of 95; good propaganda in his campaign to convince the world that there is nothing inherently lethal about a vegan diet. He always regarded himself as a propagandist, in the term’s non-pejorative sense. When interviewed at 92 he was pleased to report that he had lived thus far without resort to medication “either orthodox or fringe”, and with hardly a day’s illness. His parents were meat-eaters who did not enjoy particularly good health or long lives....

Decades of lecturing around America and of speaking with parents on my radio show have led me to an incredible conclusion: More American parents would be upset with their teenage children if they smoked a cigarette than if they cheated on a test. [clip] There has been a profound change in American values. In a nutshell, health has overtaken morality. Or, if you prefer, health has become our morality.More...

WELCOME to Cold War City (population: 4). It covers 240 acres and has 60 miles of roads and its own railway station. It even includes a pub called the Rose and Crown. The most underpopulated town in Britain is being put on the market. But there will be no estate agent’s blurb extolling the marvellous views of the town for sale: true, it has a Wiltshire address, but it is 120ft underground. The subterranean complex that was built in the 1950s to house the Conservative prime minister Harold Macmillan’s cabinet and 4,000 civil servants in the event of a Soviet...

When Jake Walker upsets his girlfriend, Jaci Boydston, he might buy her flowers. When Jaci feels she owes an apology to Jake, she agrees to play a round of the Nintendo fighting game "Super Smash Brothers." Jaci and Jake, who both attend Kansas State University, are a modern couple dealing with a modern issue. One of them is a gamer; the other is not. Theirs is not an unusual plight. For decades gamers and non-gamers in love have struggled to find harmony. At Kansas State the frustration is rampant. Like most college campuses, it is a place where the release...

Breaking story coming. I was just listening to the news on KFAB radio (Omaha, NE) and heard of a story about a boy who was bitten by a pit bull. The boy is facing the prospect of rabies shots because the owners of the pit bull are refusing to cooperate with authorities to have the dog checked by a vet. According to the story that was read, the owners have hidden the dog from authorities. I cannot find the written story, yet, but will post when I find it.

A good friend of mine from school is in the lead, running for newscaster on one of our city radio stations Sonic 102.9. Please FReep this poll (at the bottom of the page), and vote for Kory Read. He is a good guy, not a Pinko, and a great friend who I have never once heard bash America or Bush (and I'm living in Canada!!). If we can have a big enough impact on the results, I will try to convince him to throw a few UN-Bashing jabs on the air in Edmonton,AB, on behalf of FReeRepublic (I can't promise...

1 hour, 49 minutes ago DES MOINES, Iowa - A man who immigrated from Kenya to the United States found prosperity beyond his expectations on the day he became a U.S. citizen. Shortly after Moses Bittok, of West Des Moines, took the oath of citizenship on Friday, he discovered he had a $1.89 million winning ticket from the Iowa Lottery's Hot Lotto game. "It's almost like you adopted a country and then they netted you $1.8 million," Bittok said Monday as he cashed in his ticket. "It doesn't happen anywhere — I guess only in America." Bittok said he took...

Does anyone know about the Center for Media & Democracy? A student in a class I am taking posted a link from their website in response to an end of class discussion about Walmart that poured on the the class discussion board. It is about how Walmart affects our lives and some students offered opinions. This class is about things in our environment and how they affect us. The teacher is very balanced (refreshingly) for a college professor, he also believes there needs to be a balance of for example, capitalism and conservation. He wants us to think, which is...

But note, to say NO ONE was left behind is ludacrist ( what ever) and unproveable, yet below, in Sen. McCain's own words he admits ... just a "tiny hand full".. well I feel as a majority do, ONE is to many to leave, ONE is a father, a brother, an uncle and on and on.. who should have the right to the...

Thursday, June 23, 2005 TRUTH REVEALED: The New York Times is a Master at DeceptionA brilliant article by Sanjoy Mahajan in ZNET analyzes with crystalline clarity and exposes the shameless cover-up tactics used by The New York Times when dealing with the Downing Street Memos (minutes) and briefings. In Mahajan's words: The NYT articles -- masterpieces of delay, indirection, distraction, fake rebuttals, and elegant omission -- keep readers ignorant of the lies and the lying liars who tell them. No wonder so many Americans still support this gangster war. In Mahajan's article he first compares headlines from the British media...
