Breaking...Pit Bull Mauls Omaha Boy, Owner Refusing To Cooperate W/ Authorities
KFAB Radio News

Posted on 11/22/2005 9:11:06 AM PST by RavenATB

Breaking story coming. I was just listening to the news on KFAB radio (Omaha, NE) and heard of a story about a boy who was bitten by a pit bull. The boy is facing the prospect of rabies shots because the owners of the pit bull are refusing to cooperate with authorities to have the dog checked by a vet.

According to the story that was read, the owners have hidden the dog from authorities.

I cannot find the written story, yet, but will post when I find it.

Should be an arrestable offense.

But, but *MY* pit bull is well-trained and peaceful and will never lose it and attack or kill someone.

That's what we hear every time there's an attack from a violent dog breed .....

Go to the house. Shoot the dog. Run tests on the carcass. Fine the owners.

A pit bull bit a little kid? No way. Those dogs never bite people. Especially not children. (Yes, I am being sarcastic.)

put the owners in jail until they produce the dog. The dog is their reponsibility and they have a right to turn it over for testing just like any one of us have to. The law is the law and so what the hell is this all about? Put 'em in jail. Let's see how long they decide to HIDE theri dog then.,

If it was my kid, I'd find the dog with or without the authorities. Anyone who lets pit bulls run free and then hides them after they bite, maybe don't need to be in polite society anyway

How badly was the child mauled? I see "mauled" in the title, but no "mauling" in the story.

Just curious. It could be this child was nipped, which happens with a lot of breeds. It could be this child was latched onto and badly mauled, which happens with the fighting breeds, like Pit Bulls.

I have a Corgi, so I like to make clear the difference between a nip and a bite.

Shoot the owner, test the dog.

Shoot the owner, dog, and the idiot that is actually waiting to contemplate on what to do.

Where could they hide it? Presumably on their premises or on the premises of a close relative.

Any local kennel would gladly give the dog up and few people would agree to hide a friend's dangerous dog from the police.

It shouldn't take the cops too long to get a warrant to search for a dog.

Can the owner produce documentation of an up-to-date rabies vaccination? If not, it's time to take the owner down to the station to be held until somebody comes down with the dog.
