Hello all, As some of you may know/recall, I have discussed joining the military, specifically the Active Duty forces of the United States Army. When I initially spoke of joining, many here suggested I join Wal-Mart instead. One person pleaded with me not to join. But I pursued my goal, and today I am a soldier. I was kind of worried about the ASVAB, if I would qualify for the job I wanted (96B, intelligence analyst). My concerns were totally unfounded. I got a "total" score (or AFQT) of 99, which is the maximum possible score, although I did hear...

I've made a career decision to stop being a teacher and try to work for the US government in security. I've got extensive martial arts background, and have worked with police departments and have even travelled to Fort Bragg to teach combatives to a unit which went to Iraq. Unfortunately, I don't have the "official" security training needed to get into Homeland Security or the FBI or the Secret Service. I'm trying to join the Air National Guard to get the security training, but had to have surgery years ago on my throat to repair acid reflux damage. The MEPS...

MEPs accuse Palestinian Authority of using aid for terrorism By Stephen Castle in Brussels 05 February 2003 The future of Europe's multimillion-euro aid package to the Palestinian Authority was in question yesterday as MEPs pressed for an investigation into claims that EU cash may have been siphoned into terrorist causes. With a quarter of the European Parliament backing calls for a formal investigation, MEPs are heading for confrontation with Chris Patten, the European commissioner for external relations, who says there is no evidence of serious problems. At stake is the future of the European Commission's €10m (£6.6m) monthly payment to...
