The timing of Oklahoma oil man Aubrey McClendon's death by car crash was suspicious, but it doesn't appear to be suicide. Oklahoma City police had been investigating the deadly March 2 wreck that killed McClendon just a day after he was indicted by a federal grand jury for allegedly trying to rig oil prices.

He grew to become a towering figure by building Chesapeake into a $37.5 billion company, thanks to his championing of controversial hydraulic fracturing. But the very gas boom he helped create caused prices to plummet, clipping the company’s value by more than half and triggering a shareholder revolt that led to McClendon’s ouster. He then formed American Energy Partners and raised more than $10 billion to amass drilling rights from the Appalachian Mountains to Australia and Argentina. McClendon died instantly when his car crashed into a aviaduct on Midwest Boulevard in Oklahoma City, the day after his indictment by a federal grand on charges of violating antitrust laws from 2007-12 while the CEO of Chesapeake Energy. A Florida toddler was shot multiple times during a “gang-related” drive-by shooting, cops said Saturday. Little Aiden Michael McClendon, who was only 22 months old, was shot dead Friday around 6:10 p.m. in Jacksonville while sitting in a car, cops said in a statement.
