Civil right leader Rev. Jesse Jackson paid enormous tribute to the late Martin McGuinness this week in a rousing speech to open the Museum of Free Derry. Comparing the Derryman, who died earlier this year after a short illness, to the likes of Martin Luther King Jr and Nelson Mandela, the activist laid a wreath at the Sinn Féin leader’s grave, meeting with other members of the political party to pay tribute. “It was a great honor to welcome the Rev. Jesse Jackson to Derry today, as he laid a wreath at the grave of Martin McGuinness, accompanied by Martin’s...

End austerity: it’s cheating us all; Jobs not Trident; No cuts; Defy Tory rule; Cut war not welfare; Stop fracking; a Living Wage for mothers; and, The Pope gets it, why can’t you? With the slogans emblazoned on banners, posters and flags, anti-austerity marchers shouted slogans, sang, and beat drums, as they walked through London in what is being called the biggest protest march that the city has seen. The ‘End Austerity Now’ demonstration saw participation by an estimated crowd of between 70,000 and 250,000, all coming together to protest against cuts imposed due to austerity, the threats to the...

Martin McGuinness blamed the “dark side” of policing for Gerry Adams’ detention during the election campaign and insisted his leader could have been questioned without being arrested. He said the questioning centered on books Mr. Adams had written and what others said about him—those “maliciously and vehemently” hostile to the peace process. …

The former political director of Oakland County’s Democratic Party pleaded no contest Monday to charges related to voter fraud. Jason Bauer, 27, is scheduled to return to court in January for sentencing. Bauer and co-defendant Michael McGuinness, the former chairman of the Oakland County Democratic Party, were charged earlier this year with three counts of uttering and publishing and three counts of perjury. Both have now pleaded no contest, which not an admission of guilt but is treated as one by the court. Bauer was also charged with three misdemeanor counts of violating the Michigan Notary Act. Authorities accused the...

Sinn Féin MP Martin McGuinness has rubbished claims by a number of tabloid newspapers that he is a high-level British spy. The claims were made on Sunday, but Mr McGuinness said today that he was certain no evidence would ever be produced to support the allegations. He also accused the Democratic Unionist Party of being in league with the British spy-handler who was allegedly the source of the allegation. "This is a dirty trick manufactured and constructed by people within the DUP who are now hooked up to others hostile to the [peace] process," he said
  • Stop peddling the lie that we've had ten years of blissful peace in Northern Ireland

SINN Fein/IRA, their apologists, the gullible, the wishful thinkers and the pig ignorant may have left some people with the impression that last Tuesday, August 31, was the 10th anniversary of the day - as we are forever being poetically told - when "the IRA guns fell silent". Quite apart from this being a pathetic fallacy (it wasn't that the guns decided to stop shooting; the IRA leadership finally grasped that murdering unionists was counterproductive), this assertion is simply untrue. In fairness to Gerry Adams, Martin McGuinness and their dreadful colleagues, they made it perfectly clear what they were offering...
