Sunday in the Sunshine State on the Suncoast dawned dreary, cloudy with a forecast of storms and increasing winds. Despite the gloomy skies we can report: Mission Accomplished!!! We gathered on the 4 corners of the busiest intersection in Venice, FL. and we got on local comcast SNN6 TV station! About 30 Patriots led by 2 Freepers, Joe Brower & your reporter waved signs & flags for almost 3 hours at Rte 41 Bypass & Venice Ave. while passing cars honked, cheered and gave 'thumbs up' signs to show their approval. Wow! What a day. Let me start by saying that the temperature 2 days ago was 70 degrees with not a cloud in the sky. The forecast called for 40 degrees, with sunny skies. It was not to be. The temp when I arrived at the site was in the low thirties with heavy cloud cover, brisk winds and with the promise (threat) of snow. At times, and only briefly, it neared white out conditions and the wind never let up. It cut right through you and apparently many people did not watch the weather report and were not dressed...

Finally the south steps of the Capitol in Austin TX. were covered with American flags and support the troops signs. Lots of support for President Bush. It was thrilling after so long of just a few of us meeting to support the troops to see the place covered with flags, cheering people and many saying we won't be silent any more.

Surely it has been the same today across the country as the USA turns out to support our troops. The Torrance rally was very, very successful. Others will likely report on today's rally but I wanted to put up a few pics to add our voices now to those of you in other parts of the country that also got out in a show of support for our troops. After action report on Rally to Support the Troops, Aiken, SC. We did not quite make reach 1,000 but we had several hundred people attending, many carrying posters with pictures of their loved ones now serving in Iraq. It was a rousing rally and every time the president was mentioned, there was a standing ovation. Our state senator, Thomas Moore, a democrat, had nothing but praise for the president and said this was the time to pull together for the troops. That was the most fun I've had in years as well as making me all the more proud to be an American and a Californian. I met vets from Vietnam, Korea and World War II. It was a true melting pot of Californians of all nationalities, races, religions and two species (a few patriotic canines). We had another amazing rally - huge turnout (300+) but what made it special was our memorial for Sgt. Bitz (a local man killed in action last week)and our closing ceremony. Once again, very emotional and moving and wonderful.

Rally went great! We had supporters stretched from Ft. Huachuca to Veterans Memorial Park. No antis near us at the post gate. Lots of horn honks and waves!!! Spiff will post the pics my hubby took out our sunroof while driving. Good job Sierra Vista!!!

I got to the Rally late but there were still a bunch op people there. They said that earlier in the day that there were many more people lining both sides of the busiest street in Idaho Falls. They had 2 flags hanging from an 80 foot crane. If there were any freepers there earlier I had no way of knowing.
