Take Sarah Palin and Mike Huckabee out of the 2012 presidential mix, says Al Cardenas, new chair of the American Conservative Union: If they were serious about running, "they'd probably be here." Interviewed at the end of the second busy day of his organization's Conservative Political Action Conference in Washington, Cardenas dismissed the chances of the two high-profile no-shows. "Both Mike Huckabee and Sarah Palin would be formidable contenders, but are unlikely to be nominees," he told On Calll. "But my sense I they're not serious about running because I would think they'd probably be here if they were."

LPAC has sunk to a new low. On Tuesday the Ramada Inn on Zorn Ave. in Louisville, KY hosted the recruiting team from the United States Military Academy for a seminar for prospective West Point Cadets. On their website, LPAC gave few details about their plans simply calling it a "Counter-Recruitment Event". Thunder Over Louisville is the Kentucky Derby Festival's annual kickoff to the two week long celebration leading up to the Kentucky Derby. Each year KDF and it's sponsors-Chase Bank, Caesar's Indiana, Ford and UPS-put on an airshow and the largest fireworks display in the United States, dwarfing even New York's July 4th fireworks show. As part of the airshow, military aircraft from all branches of the Armed Forces demonstrate their capabilities. Inauguration Day brought out the Socialists of LPAC (Louisville Peace Action Community) to protest our Commander-and-Chief and the War against Terror. However, as usual, the local chapter of Protest Warrior and FReepers were on hand to liven up their pity party. FReepers in attendance that I know of: BlueOneGolf and SheWolf.
