A would-be actor took a shockingly extreme step to improve his career by cutting off his own arm so that he could more easily pose as a war veteran, only to have a handful of small, modest parts to show for his extreme and bloody trouble. According to KOB4, Todd Latourette, who claims he is bipolar, cut off and cauterized his right arm roughly 17 years ago while he was off his medications. “I severed my hand with a Skil saw,” he told the outlet. “The state of my mind was a psychotic episode.” Surprisingly, the move worked and Latourette...

Just finished up Season 6 over the Thanksgiving week. Generally, I thought the characters were interesting and the clash of culture also made for interesting story telling. My only criticism would be all the stupid things the Sheriff's department did in Season 5. Nonetheless; great series and the timing of it coming to a close was just about right. (Unlike "Lost")

Netflix may have saved popular crime series Longmire after A&E cancelled it in 2014, but every cowboy has his last ride. The streaming service has announced that the sixth and final season debuts on November 17th. A trailer for the final act depicts Sheriff Walt Longmire considering taking off the badge for good and being forced to confront five seasons worth of criminals and past decisions. Based on the clip, it looks like this final installment will be jam-packed with shootouts and suspense.

The Oakland police sergeant who led the investigation into the slaying of journalist Chauncey Bailey denied in court Tuesday that he had promised to protect the former leader of Your Black Muslim Bakery from criminal liability in the case. Sgt. Derwin Longmire's comments came as the trial of Yusuf Bey IV, 25, the one-time head of the self-described black empowerment group, and a former bakery member drew near a close. Alameda County prosecutor Melissa Krum referred to a conversation secretly recorded by police in 2007 in which Bey boasted to followers that his ties with Longmire were "the reason they...

A federal judge has dismissed most of a civil-rights lawsuit filed by the former Oakland homicide detective who led the highly criticized investigation of journalist Chauncey Bailey's 2007 slaying. Sgt. Derwin Longmire had claimed in his April lawsuit that the Oakland Police Department, Assistant Chief Howard Jordan and Internal Affairs Division Lt. Sean Whent violated his constitutional rights and ruined his reputation by investigating his conduct and allowing information leaks while forbidding him from clearing his own name. U.S. District Judge Jeffrey White this week ruled Longmire's case is full of holes and can't be sustained by the facts presented...

Despite state investigators and other experts saying that a detective's ties to Your Black Muslim Bakery's young leader compromised his investigation of a journalist's slaying, the Oakland Police Department will decline to discipline him, police sources say. Sgt. Derwin Longmire, who investigated the Aug. 2, 2007, killing of Oakland Post editor Chauncey Bailey in downtown Oakland, will return to work within days, according to three department sources who spoke on condition of anonymity. He was reassigned from homicide to patrol last year, and he has been on paid administrative leave since April pending possible disciplinary action in this case. Longmire's...
