Here's my response to President Bollinger email to me from Columbia UNiversity (the Presidnet's email I am responding to is included after my response): President Bollinger, I got your response to my emails regarding the atrocious comments by Professor De Genova. While I am gratified that you find Professor De Genova's words revolting, I am wondering what you are going to do about it. Your response was completely absent of any action on your or the University's part regarding censoring, punishing or reprimanding the Professor at all. This is a response I sent to the head of Columbia University after the reply I got from a "Conservitive Alert" e-mail that I signed and sent to the University: Mr. Bollinger, I have to say that I find your response to this situation very disappointing to put it mildly. To defend one who wishes "A Million Mogadishues" onto citizens of his own country is beyond comprehension, no matter where such a thing is spouted...he does have the right to speak as you say, but there should be consequences and accountability for what one says also. The president of Columbia University said yesterday that he was horrified by the remarks of an anthropology professor who said at a campus antiwar teach-in Wednesday night that he hoped to see "a million Mogadishus" — referring to the city in Somalia where American soldiers were ambushed in a lethal firefight in 1993.
