An unidentified assailant riding a pedicab ambushed two police officers in New Orleans, opening fire into their police vehicle on Friday night. The shooter hit one cop in the face and the shards of glass from the bullet wounded the other officer. The suspect hit one officer in the cheek and the bullet lodged in his skull, Fox News reported. “They were just crossing through intersections going in different directions,” Ferguson said. “This is a dark day for our officers.” The...

Over the last few months, the Louisiana coast has endured catastrophic damage from back-to-back hurricanes, first Laura and then more recently Delta. A path of widespread devastation was left in communities across the state, including Cameron Parish, which sustained a direct hit from both hurricanes. Remarkably, nobody was killed in Cameron Parish, but dozens of deceased family members are now missing. The powerful storm surge associated with Laura and Delta was strong enough to cause the water to move massive granite and marble slabs in cemeteries in the hard-hit state. Vaults that held caskets in place ended up popping up "like...

Want a painting of President Trump in your parking space? So be it. That's what a federal judge ruled Friday after a Louisiana teen's portrait of Trump sparked a brouhaha at his school, the Times-Picayune reports. "The painting of President Trump cannot reasonably be described as obscene or plainly offensive on its face, nor can it be construed as school-sponsored speech," US District Judge Eldon Fallon wrote, calling the Trump portrait a type of "pure political speech" the school can't prevent. The student, Ned Thomas, had the portrait commissioned after Pine Junior-Senior High School near Franklinton offered seniors the chance...

When he wasn’t packing vehicles with extra people and crashing them into big rigs and buses for the insurance money -- as federal prosecutors claim he did scores of times -- Cornelius Garrison III preferred to roll in comfort and style.... The Sept. 18 indictment described Garrison as a ringleader in a scheme that took auto insurance fraud to a wild new level – by targeting big rigs and the big dollars that can result from getting injured by one, with the right lawyers. Now authorities are hunting for his killer, while a cascade of indictments from U.S. Attorney Peter...

As Delta churns through the warm waters of the Gulf, forecasts show it regaining Category-3 strength, with sustained wind speeds of 120 mph, by the time it approaches Louisiana and Texas on Friday. The NHC warned that the storm could bring "dangerous" hurricane-force winds and "life-threatening" storm surge. A wall of up to 11 feet of water could rush through some parts of Louisiana, with up to 4 feet of...

Hurricane Delta rapidly intensified into a potentially catastrophic Category 4 hurricane with 130 mph (215 kmh) winds Tuesday on a course to hammer southeastern Mexico and then continue on to the U.S. Gulf coast this week. The worst of the immediate impact was expected along the resort-studded northeastern tip of Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula, where hurricane conditions were expected Tuesday night and landfall early Wednesday. From Tulum to Cancun, tourism-dependent communities still being soaked Tuesday by the remnants of Tropical Storm Gamma could bear the brunt of the storm... Ablack separatist paramilitary group known as the “Not F$%*ing (expletive) Around Coalition” #NFAC marched with weapons clutched in their hands through the streets of Lafayette, Louisiana, Saturday. However, only a few news outlets and independent journalists appeared to have reported on the situation, even while the escalation of racial tensions have led to riots across the nation over the past year. A journalist and cameraman from News2Share.com by the Twitter name of Ford Fischer posted the developments from Louisiana on Twitter Saturday. It was later picked up and spread across various twitter feeds. One person was arrested after firing shots...

It started out as a story about a police officer who was ambushed in small-town Louisiana. But within days, the tale unraveled. The officer had shot himself, his department said. At 11:20 p.m. on Sunday, Police Officer John Michael Goulart Jr. radioed in to the Pineville Police Department that he needed help. He said that he had been fired upon by an unknown assailant as he was getting out of his patrol car at a strip mall in Pineville, a Louisiana city of 16,000 people that lies about 100 miles northwest of Baton Rouge. “A Great Place to Call Home,”...
