According to Newsweek's assistant managing editor Evan Thomas, "There's one other base here, the media. Let's talk a little media bias here. The media, I think, wants Kerry to win and I think they're going to portray Kerry and Edwards . . . as being young and dynamic and optimistic and there's going to be this glow about them . . ." On March 27, 1986, John Kerry said in a speech to the U.S. Senate, that he had first hand knowledge that the Nixon administration had lied about having troops in cambodia, because he was in Cambodia on Christmas eve of 1968. Of course this was a lie on its face because Nixon did not take office until January 20, 1969. Nevertheless, he is reported to have told the Boston Herald that same lie at about the same time.
