Politico’s scoop on Kay Hagen is a couple of days old, but it’s worth mentioning in a tight Senate race in North Carolina, and not just for the scoop itself. Hagan’s vote on the 2009 stimulus package has come under fire after Politico discovered that $390,000 in ARRA grants went to a firm owned in part by her husband Chip: When Kay Hagan voted for President Barack Obama’s 2009 economic stimulus package, the Democratic senator hailed it as “the best way forward for working families across North Carolina.”One of the families that later benefited is her own.JDC Manufacturing, a...

During last night’s North Carolina Senate Debate, incumbent Sen. Kay Hagan responded to criticism over her obliterated ‘keep your plan‘ Obamacare pledge by claiming she didn’t hear about cancellations until “last fall:”CLICK ABOVE LINK FOR THE VIDEO “As soon as this came to my attention last fall…”Step one: Blame insurers, who were forced to cancel plans that failed to comply with Obamacare, the law for which Kay Hagan furnished the deciding vote. Step two: Claim that those millions of cancellation letters fell from the sky, as if no one had predicted them. Step three: Try to claim credit for...

During this year’s second quarter, Democrat Kay Hagan raised more than twice the money for her re-election campaign for one of North Carolina’s two seats in the U.S. Senate than her Republican challenger Thom Tillis, the speaker of the N.C. House. Hagan’s campaign has reported that she raised $3.6 million from April to June, and she has $8.5 million cash on hand. Tillis’ campaign reported that he raised $1.6 million during the same period and has $1.5 million in the bank. The candidates were required to submit their campaign finance data to the Federal Election Commission by July 15, but...
  • Sen. Hagan Repeatedly “Ducked The Question” About Her Own Broken Obamacare Promise

Senator Kay Hagen (D., NC) who is up for reelection in 2014 was asked repeatedly about what she knew and when she knew it regarding Obamacare. When asked, “At some point did you know that you couldn’t necessarily keep you policy and still make that claim.” Sen. Hagen dodged this question and any others like it, blaming millions of Americans losing their health insurance on the insurers and not Obamacare. This answer does not sit well with many North Carolinian’s who believe, “basically by implication shouldn’t Senator Hagen somebody who signed the bill herself into law know as well?”
