BULLOCK'S HUSBAND IN BUSH RANT Hollywood star SANDRA BULLOCK's husband JESSE JAMES has launched a scathing verbal attack on US President GEORGE W BUSH, calling the leader "a d**khead". The motorcycle maker visited American soldiers outside Baghdad, Iraq - and is convinced the majority of the US military agree with him. James says, "Everyone in Iraq knows Bush is a d**khead. He's the boss' kid. "Everybody I know who has a successful business who has a kid - the kid is always a f**khead. Have you ever noticed that?"

    Discover Channel (TV)
Just watched "Iraq Confidential with Jesse James" on The Discover Channel. I've been pretty busy the last few months, so I don't know if this has been on before or not. I'm not a big watcher of "Jesse James" show, but this was a pretty interesting glimpse of "day-to-day-life" of some of our soldiers (mechanics) in Iraq as Jesse tries to give them a little diversion, and support. There were a few comments not totally gung ho, but mostly it was pretty positive, and patriotic, especially at the end. I'd like to know if anybody else sees this or watches...

AL ASAD, Iraq (Aug. 11, 2005) -- The high operational tempo of the second largest air base in Iraq requires many of the service members here to find ways to get from place to place faster than by just walking. Bicycles, a cheap and effective mode of transportation, have become the most popular way to overcome this challenge. Sgt. Dustin W. Lambert, an airframes mechanic with Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron 26, didn’t want to be like everyone else riding a stock bike. Inspired by Jesse James, famous builder of motorcycles and host of the Discovery Channel’s Monster Garage, Lambert built...

A man labeled by Volusia County authorities as the West Coast Chopper serial robber is believed to be responsible for robbing three convenience stores Tuesday night, according to Local 6 News. In each robbery, the man is wearing a black West Coast Chopper sweatshirt with a hood covering his face. Besides allegedly robbing the three convenience stores Tuesday night, the same man is suspected of robbing several other stores in recent weeks. Investigators believe he is targeting businesses in Holly Hill, Ormond Beach and outside county limits. The robber is also believed to be leaving the crimes in a taxi...

There are two ways to tell when a political party thinks it is losing an election. The obvious one is where the candidates are choosing to campaign. If they’re stumping in their own backyards and shoring up their bases, while the other side is on the attack, that’s a clear sign. But so is the level of lying. When all is almost lost, the unethical campaign will haul out the lies – the bigger the better. Others have commented on the political geography of where Bush and Kerry are respectively campaigning in the closing days of this campaign. This comments...

An honor guard from the Sons of Confederate Veterans marches during a memorial service for Gen. Alfred Mouton before the Battle of Mansfield re-enactment. Mouton was the highest ranking confederate soldier killed at the Battle of Mansfield, which was fought on April 8, 1864.The Battle of Mansfield in April 1864 was the last major Confederate victory of the Civil War, one of the largest battles west of the Mississippi River and marked the sour end of a campaign personally planned by U.S. President Abraham Lincoln. Still, historians have mixed ideas over its place in the grand scheme of that conflict.

ANAHEIM – The gun that killed outlaw Jesse James sold at auction for $350,000. The .44-caliber Smith & Wesson was purchased Monday by an out-of-state absentee bidder who requested anonymity, said Brian Maize, spokesman for Little John's Antique Arms Inc., which organized the auction. The gun attracted more than 20 bidders. Maize said the top bid was a record for a Western history firearm. The previous high was the $240,000 paid in 1998 for a pistol used by outlaw "Blackjack" Ketchum. Bob Ford, a late recruit to James' gang of bank, train and stagecoach robbers, killed James April 3, 1882,...

WASHINGTON -- Sometimes, a nut with a gun is only a nut with a gun. If the moment is right, though, a nut with a gun becomes the stuff of political mythologies. This comes to mind as I sit in the shadow of Capitol Hill, penned in by the sniper who has laid siege to this town's suburban perimeter all week. In the midst of this peculiarly American form of fear, I am kept aloft with a diet of crab cakes and bourbon, and a very thick and fitting new book, Jesse James: Last Rebel of the Civil War.Mr. James was...

    J. Stiles went to Carleton College in Northfield, Minn., a town famous as the site of the James-Younger Gang's final showdown. Not until much later would Mr. Stiles realize what deep interest the place held for him. He is now the author of a fascinating revisionist biography of Jesse James, one that takes issue with the traditional image of the "Wild West outlaw, yippin' and yellin' and shooting it out with the county sheriff," and with the folk-hero notion of James as a prairie Robin Hood. In place of that, Mr. Stiles sees something more troubling and complex: "a...
